Do y'all think a CCN acceptance or even (dreaming now) a smaller scholarship offer from a CCN compared to whatever Duke would offer would be useful in negotiating a higher scholarship? If Duke offers someone a cool 60k or zero dollars (lets be real here) or something and they let them know they got into Columbia or Chicago would it be an "ah nice here's more money" or "come on it's not HYS we're all peers over here in the T10 other than those guys". Same question but with "hey Chicago/Columbia gave me less money than you but can I get more money from you???". Anyone seen, heard, pondered about this at all? Obviously case by case but in general whaddaya think?
I don't have any sort of scholarship yet to be clear but would reaaaallly like to! (Posted this on the UVA thread too so if I left any UVAs in have mercy!!!)
Thanks friends! Best of luck with your cycles.

I don't think that's how it works. But I guess the adcomm may have certain check boxes. I believe it's more a function of COA than preftigeHangingAround wrote:hopeful bump!HangingAround wrote:Hey friends - I was one of the September ins (woo!) and have been reading this for a bit.

Yea i kind of figured they would look at the fact that they were a cheaper option, even if a couple ranking spots down, and not be too concerned about further enticement.lymenheimer wrote:I don't think that's how it works. I mean, it can't hurt to say "hey. I got this much money from wustl, this much from vandy and uva, and I was accepted to cls, let's talk about sweetening up the deal". You can definitely offer it, but I wouldn't expect it to be a singular factor in getting more moneyHangingAround wrote:Yea i kind of figured they would look at the fact that they were a cheaper option, even if a couple ranking spots down, and not be too concerned about further enticement.lymenheimer wrote:I don't think that's how it works. No movement on non-PTers yet, nor do I think we'll see it for 3-4 weeks.susanlata wrote:Checking in! I've been under review since Oct 12...Just wonder if those accepted under this thread are via PT or simply regular decision, thanks for sharing!

Fairly sure this does work actually. If they've let you in, they want your numbers, and if they think they genuinely might lose you - no matter how irrational your reasons may be - they will try to compensate by jacking up your scholarship offer. Unless they simply aren't bothered about keeping you, of course, but then, if your numbers are such that you could get a CCN offer, you probably are quite valuable to them.HangingAround wrote:Hey friends - I was one of the September ins (woo!) and have been reading this for a bit.

I'm sending my application in this coming weekend via PT, and I'm super nervous. Would those who've been accepted already mind PMing me your stats?
