I'd wait until you get an actual offer and then try to negotiate from there. Don't show your entire cards the first round; it's also a bit forward.janwlee wrote:During the scholarship interview, is it a good idea to tell them that I'm also admitted to Michigan with half tuition, and it'd be really great if Duke can be as generous since I would LOVE to be able to avoid the cold weather and attend Duke?

That, and what if they wanted to give you more? Then you'd be telling them they only have to give you half tuition to get you. Might as well let them make the first move then go from there.radio1nowhere wrote:I think it might be a little forward to do that during your scholarship interview. Maybe save it until you see what your Duke award is and then try to haggle from there if it's not enough?janwlee wrote:During the scholarship interview, is it a good idea to tell them that I'm also admitted to Michigan with half tuition, and it'd be really great if Duke can be as generous since I would LOVE to be able to avoid the cold weather and attend Duke?
I'm no admissions officer, so that's just a reaction straight off the top of my head..

Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Just finished the interview! Thank you, usn26, imKMart, and radio1nowhere. I would have ruined it without your advice.
The questions were very standard, just as what everyone else said. Why law, why duke, and financial circumstances. One thing that threw me off a little was when she told me that she didn't have my "entire application" with her. From our conversation I could tell that she didn't have my resume or SOP at hand, because no specific questions were asked from that. I have 4 years of WE in a relatively unique field, so if she had those she would have at least brought it up. Still, she was very friendly and attentive.

Also "under review" (never any UR1, UR2, etc.) and went complete 12/3. What does this mean? I want to believe anyone who submitted early Dec or earlier to Duke, or anywhere, who hasn't heard...that that can't be bad news? If we were clear NOs then wouldn't they trim the stack more quickly? Maybe I'm feeling too positive today...Madilevi wrote:"Under Review" since 12/5.... Starting to get a bit impatient... Hmph

That's what I like to think. I would imagine that if they hold your application for that long (that's what is going on with mine too) that we will either get waitlisted or they are holding out to see how their medians turn out before accepting/rejecting us...WhatCouldHaveBeen wrote:Also "under review" (never any UR1, UR2, etc.) and went complete 12/3. Thanks. 'Ole TLS...always creating new artifacts I (all of us?) won't ever think about again in 3 months.

Hey guys quick question. When completing your FAFSA the accepted students packet directs you to submit your FAFSA to a school code which directs it to "Duke University." There is also a separate option to send it to "Duke School of Law." Which did you guys submit to?
I know this is a pretty insignificant question, but hey this is TLS

Duke University’s prefers that law students use their FAFSA Code - 002920. However, using the Law School's code, E00167, will also work.

My guess is that it is either a requirement that they have one, or it is a vestigial code they no longer prefer using (or both).Hikkomorist wrote:Then why have the other code?JFO1833 wrote:http://law.duke.edu/admis/financial/faqs/

UR2 today. Submitted 01/26 and UR1 02/16. Any idea how soon people have heard back after becoming UR2?

Varies. I think NH heard back the same day as he went UR2 and then there is my case: UR2 2/5 and I'm still waiting.scm422 wrote:UR2 today. Submitted 01/26 and UR1 02/16. Any idea how soon people have heard back after becoming UR2?

How long should it be before I hear back on scholarship info? I interviewed 3 and a half weeks ago. I'm above both 75ths.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
