Exactly. The balance of power is so off, especially when you consider steadily declining applications. I got held from ED-waitlisted at a school. HOW MANY REVIEWS DO YOU NEED? IT'S BINARY! /endrantPrizeFighter wrote:"We have made a decision that we will wait until later to make a decision."rkspurs21 wrote:What does "held" mean? Is that the actual decision you're getting, or did you apply early decision? I just went DLS w/in 24 hrs. If it's truly just "held", that sounds like a cop-out to actual decisions being made, which is nuts after 11 weeks.
WTF!

lol I just got a captcha when I went to the SC home page, and when I finally got in it was still just on Complete. Fine, Johann, I'll go do other stuff. I get the hint.

NU better have a reason for making applicants sweat through two portals and endless F5s just to find out whether they got in or not...

Still at DLS from December. ED people that got held are counted as part of the group that applied before December, right?

for the research and record keepers lol
Applied 11/24/2014
Complete 11/25/2014
Waitlist 2/10/2015
ETA - well.. technically held - didn't realize there was a difference.

Unexpected, since all predictors gave me 80-90% chance of admission, and I interviewed.
What the hell.
Although it looks like hold just means they want you to wait some more...

I'm setting thirty minute increments to check the DLS. Every half hour on the half hour. No work getting done today. Gonna go buy the new Father John Misty album and drink some whiskey. God bless everyone.

THEORY TO MAKE ME FEEL BETTER:
They didn't want to change the 8-10 week date again (why even have a deadline? but I digress), so they just took everyone in the pre-Dec 1 pile and auto-held them.

Held. I don't have great numbers but pretty unique work experience, so I guess it's true they really do like WE.

In the held group, complete on Dec. 1. Interview on campus was like two weeks before that.
Guys wasn't the 11 week wait fun? Let's do it for another 11. See you in April!

Held. Haven't I been on hold this entire time? Not that I feel entitled to an acceptance but I literally could not find someone on LSN/myLSN who didn't get accepted with my numbers. Im just going to withdraw.
The Northwestern experience has been an all around bad one.

Are the majority of you guys getting your "helds" via Status Check or the Decision Letter Site, or elsewhere?

Congrats!
I guess they are going by my second UR date and not my first one since it looks like I'm passed over this week, too. Great.
