Thank you, and I really appreciate your input. :)

I think I am set for Wash U, and my husband has been working here for more than 15 years. Would that be considered regional tie? For some reason, I seriously prefer st. louis to places like nyc. Also, I am not sure if it is an appropriate question, I am Asian, and I am a little worried that being Asian would count against me during job search in the midwest. Do you think this worry is unfounded?

St. Louis has an inferiority complex. Firms here believe that given the option to leave for a bigger city a year or two after you come to work for them, washu grads will usually leave. So for instance say you are from NY. It's damn near impossible to convince the firms here that given the chance, you won't go back. Also, they have apparently been burned countless times by washu grads saying they want to be here long term and then jumping ship the first chance they get.

SLU grads generally won't have those options, so they are the safer hire. And after years of this belief, a huge chunk of the power players in the legal field here (think judges, us DA's, even to a lesser extent partners at firms) are SLU grads and like to help their own.
Yeah your husband having ties here will help, but that still doesn't make it a lock they will buy it. Would help more if he has a good job here, you can play that up.

I'm hesitant to speak to life in STL as an Asian, since I'm not Asian myself, so I'll leave that to someone else. I will say a large percantage of washu students are Asian, but I'll leave it at that.

At what point do you know they're not offering any scholarship money? Like what's the cutoff for the offers. It's been 1 month (minus a day) since my acceptance.

Is there anything I'm supposed to be doing on my end, or do I just sit and wait for an email that says "congrats here's $x a year"

Relax. I got accepted the first week of January and didn't get an offer until mid March. I know it sucks, but hang in there.

Also at some point, at least for me, they sent me an e-mail letting me know that I wouldn't be getting any more. This was after a couple rounds of negotiations. I think this was in mid May.

I asked for a tshirt but I live on the other side of the planet. Maybe they hate me for making them ship a t-shirt super far...

I'm still waiting to hear back from 10 schools but I'd be pretty happy going to WUSTL as long as they give me some dollars. Which NBA team are st. louisers supposed to be fans of? I'll start rooting for them. Maybe start telling people I'm from St. Louis. Never set foot in the MO.

I'm a Wizards fan - Bradley Beal is a local boy. That's a safe bet.

Well hardly anyone at school is from here, so I don't really know. I'm a lifelong lakers fan but I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that right now. If you are in to baseball on the other hand, the cards are like a religion here.

I'm from Philly so if I do end up attending I really can't wait to go to a Cards Phillies game in my Phillies gear. I'm sure I'll go to the Cards games a bunch just because I enjoy the baseball game atmosphere but I'll never ever ever ditch my Philly teams.

Haha. I'm not saying to enjoy it. I'm just saying that a month after acceptance is way too soon to be thinking you might not get any $. The cycle is only, like, halfway over. I know it sucks and it's stressful, but it will come. Just keep refreshing your inbox and spam every 5-10 minutes, you'll see it eventually.

So I've been accepted and received the Scholars in Law award which is great, but does WashU send any formal information by regular mail? Acceptance letter, scholarship info, etc.?

The only things I have gotten by mail are the T shirt (and card from my interviewer! so awesome). Everything else is by email.
Holy cow! You got your t-shirt? I've been asking about that on this thread for weeks. Thanks for the info too.

I applied and interviewed in September, and got an email of acceptance a week later. The scholarship email did not come until late October, so I would say patience is your friend. It will be here, and it is just a matter of time.
