I had Mouse change my username, because when I first started here it was my first name and some numbers. That original username is still my LSN username, though.Dream_weaver32 wrote:I had a self-tar for a while. It will probably be back before too long.pylon wrote:Sounds like it! Once I get admitted I don't think I'll mind if anyone knows who I am. Although it's not like I have much to hide - if anything it might look good we take the time to research law schools on here (although some adcomms dislike the site).Toby Ziegler wrote:I had Mouse change my username, because when I first started here it was my first name and some numbers. I didn't want to eliminate my ability to pose a question in the choosing a school thread that discussed specific schools and figures, so I went ahead and changed it.

That's a good point. Especially when it comes to scholarship negotiation, the anonymity could help. After accepting an offer or matriculating however, I don't think it matters.Toby Ziegler wrote:I didn't want to eliminate my ability to pose a question in the choosing a school thread that discussed specific schools and figures, so I went ahead and changed it.

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
Waiting on my second LOR to come in ... so obviously I spent all of my morning on mylsn. Now I've convinced myself that I should retake in December and I'm weighing the cost/benefit delaying my app submissions to wait on that score. (Even if I submit earlier, LSAC notifies my registration status to schools which will place my apps on hold anyway, right?)
Ideally, I'd like CLS with some scholly, and looking at HS as reaches; not even bothering to apply to Y.
LSDAS gpa 3.78, LSAT 172 (1 take in June): worth the retake or no?? someone put me out of my misery please.

Depends--did you do noticeably better on your PTs? Or do you think you will with additional practice? No point in retaking if you don't think it's sufficiently likely that you'll raise your score.twitterati wrote:

Diagnostic was 164 and 172 actually was my PT average at the end (for the most recent 10 PTs or so). I do think I could improve with more studying but at the cost of time and added stress. Also losing the benefit of early apps

Ugh, I've been trying to hunt down my second LOR writer since the beginning of August and I just found out she can't speak with me until the end of this month. Someone reassure me that I'm not going to have a horrible cycle if I end up submitting in November.

i think retaking a 172 is crazy cuz like a 172 is at the 99th percentile isnt it? if not its like 98.9.twitterati wrote:Diagnostic was 164 and 172 actually was my PT average at the end (for the most recent 10 PTs or so). I don't think it's crazy (I'll be retaking a 171 this month) but if you scored right at your average and prepped a good bunch before your previous take it's not clear whether investing time and applying late is going to pay off. With those #s you have a good shot of getting at CCN but probably not at good $$sBillPackets wrote:i think retaking a 172 is crazy cuz like a 172 is at the 99th percentile isnt it? if not its like 98.9.twitterati wrote:Diagnostic was 164 and 172 actually was my PT average at the end (for the most recent 10 PTs or so). Did you let her know of the nature of rolling admissions, availability to do a phonecall (if this would expedite the process), giving her other relevant material like your resume, etc.?? Still, the turnaround is really quick after a LOR submission so if you have all the other components of your application is, I don't think it would be a serious blow to submit in early November. If it's going to be a glowing LOR, I think it's worth the wait!lc39 wrote:Ugh, I've been trying to hunt down my second LOR writer since the beginning of August and I just found out she can't speak with me until the end of this month. Good luck on your retake! I wish I had signed up for the September retake. Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
thanks! my score was 3-4 points at what I was averaging before the june administration, my current average is a few points higher still so I feel pretty confident that unless I have a serious off day the 27th, it should pay off to have put myself through the whole thing again.twitterati wrote:Good luck on your retake! Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
Yeah I have just been given the runaround by her admin assistant (who schedules all her appointments) even when I asked for an appointment by phone and I'm getting a little sick of it after it's been a month already. I'm hoping she'll agree to a 3 week turnaround and I can still get it in by mid-October. Otherwise, extra time to agonize over my PS and supplemental essays I guess...twitterati wrote:Did you let her know of the nature of rolling admissions, availability to do a phonecall (if this would expedite the process), giving her other relevant material like your resume, etc.?? You can always submit your current score and then, depending on where you end in the cycle, take it in December or Feb. Feb is more for getting extra money or off the waitlist. You also never know, it may not be likely you get $$$ at those schools, but if you do then you don't have to retake in Dec/Feb.twitterati wrote:Waiting on my second LOR to come in ... so obviously I spent all of my morning on mylsn.
