Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone think that I can still apply this cycle to Notre Dame? I know it's late, but I absolutely love the school; I just never thought about applying. AA male here.

AA males have a lot of flexibility. If your numbers are above the 25ths, I'd say it's worth applying (depending on your goals, etc). BUT, this late in the game, the likely answer is still reject and if you have a chance it's impossible to measure.jacketyellow wrote:Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone think that I can still apply this cycle to Notre Dame? Just fyi for people thinking that there will be money after people withdraw. I have been going back and forth with emails to the director of admissions and financial aid, and he told me there will be no increase in merit aid for admitted students, and that they base their offers upon yield percentage, so they give out more money than they actually have. This accounts for the students who decide not to matriculate. Need based aid should be coming out soon, so best of luck to those hoping for some of that, though it will be no larger than 5k/yr.

Do you know if this 5k yr limit is just for ND or for all schools?palbatron wrote:Just fyi for people thinking that there will be money after people withdraw. This is only from ND. The reason is that most of the money they have is allocated towards merit aid, and the money allocated for need aid is significantly less. Not sure what other school's policies are, but I do know that most of them have been focusing on merit aid in recent years as well.BentleyLittle wrote:Do you know if this 5k yr limit is just for ND or for all schools?palbatron wrote:Just fyi for people thinking that there will be money after people withdraw. +1 on this. I've heard the same thing, and that they also look at need-based aid using different measures to account for the differences between the K-JD crowd and the work experience crowd.palbatron wrote:Just fyi for people thinking that there will be money after people withdraw. When it says Decision Made via Status Check how do you know if you got in? Is it if the First Seat Deposit is anything other than .00?

Need-based is a crock. FAFSA says I should be getting 16k family contribution, but I have NO family. Really grinds my gears, into tears, f'real, ya feel?mathwhiz87 wrote:+1 on this. The girl wearing a pink jacket and glasses sitting to the left of me during the discussion of financial aid during ASW is definitely a TLSer. I saw your phone whoever you are. You were browsing TLS the entire time.

Better than being a real life bully and forcing an apology out of someone who doesn't feel the need to give one. That's insane.PourMeTea wrote:Apparently he felt I was a ~*cyberbully*~ amirite sinatrayossarian71 wrote:?!PourMeTea wrote: I'm not trying to out myself because last time I did that at an ASW a TLSer had printed out a list of all the mean things I'd ever said to him and read it out loud to me and made me apologize.
