Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
those interview spots are going like hotcakes.
ETA: FYI, for those waiting for decisions - the invite email says "Please note that we anticipate releasing our next round of decisions in mid-February. Therefore, the Admissions Committee encourages you to complete your interview as soon as possible to increase your chances of being included in that group of decisions. We have interview spots available as early as tomorrow." <--- I assume they didn't really have Saturday spots open?

Congrats on all the invites! I don't think there's any reason to stress, for any of you who might be. My interview was extremely pleasant.

Invite!
Submitted in early November, complete late November, UR Feb 1st.
The earliest slot available was the 15th when I signed up. I wonder when the mid-Feb decisions that they mentioned will come.

Seriously. I would describe my interview as pleasant, straightforward, and encouraging. ...then again I'm still waiting on my decision, so ask me again next week, haha.elterrible78 wrote:Congrats on all the invites! Yeah, the invite looks like a form letter. I signed up almost immediately after getting the invite and spots were booked for a solid week.risa wrote:those interview spots are going like hotcakes.

I hate to rain on the 'nothing to worry about' parade, but my UChicago interviewer was really apathetic/disinterested the entire interview, and often times was yawning and looking away while I spoke. I have no idea what this attitude means (especially since it was right from the get-go), but it definitely has made my pre-decision waiting time stressful.mcb0902 wrote:Seriously. I'm thinking it depends on who you get. My interviewer was Dean Perry, and I had the same (somewhat frightening, after all the reports over how friendly interviews were) experience. Others (including people who were admitted) reported the same thing.robot_socrates wrote:I hate to rain on the 'nothing to worry about' parade, but my UChicago interviewer was really apathetic/disinterested the entire interview, and often times was yawning and looking away while I spoke. Yep, I had Perry as well. Good to know it wasn't just me.LSATSCORES2012 wrote:I'm thinking it depends on who you get. I've heard a number of people say that, and honestly if it were me, I wouldn't read too much into it. I know I wasn't looking directly at my webcam while I was answering, and similarly, the interviewer probably had notes pulled up on the monitor to jog the memory regarding specific questions or points of interest on my specific application, etc. And given the amount of interviews they have to do, I think any of us would be a little disinterested after a point. I don't think it's a negative indication, but we probably had different interviewers, so I can't really judge.
ETA: Hmmm, well I also had Dean Perry and didn't feel that way about my interview at all. Maybe she was just having a good day? haha

If anyone gets Dean Perry and feel she is apathetic show some personality and make her laugh. She has a solid sense of humor and that should get her back on your page.
I saw somewhere in the employment forum that "If you finished an interview without making them laugh, it could have gone better" and I see no reason why that wouldn't apply to an admissions interview too.

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I'm pretty sure Perry slept through the first half of my interview and then yawned through the second half. Don't worry. It's probably just really stressful, and a new experience. Also, she doesn't have the wide-eyed, manic pressure that we do. I've been to job interviews where the interviewers literally did things like take off their shoes, put their feet up on their desks, and eat chinese food, all while interviewing me. And I still got offers from a bunch of them (NYC I-Banks defy all rules). I guess you just can't read into it too muchLSATSCORES2012 wrote:I'm thinking it depends on who you get.
