Maybe they're really reading the essays? I got in with 75k with a 3.7 and 167. I have good softs but I bet everyone does? How confusing. Man I hope I can visit within the next couple weeks =\

Wait listed as well. It's been a horrible week, 3 wait lists so far. But, I guess it makes my decision that much easier.

There email makes it seem like the WL is such an exclusive thing
Does anyone know if there WL is an auto-reject like W&M's or do you actually have a shot if you stay on it?
Also, can we send LOCIs? I know this has probably been hit on before but I am at work and cant search all 80 pages of the thread... any input would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, but LOCI's will only be accepted through e-mail. It's listed in the waitlist FAQ page linked to in the e-mail.deepspacenine wrote:There email makes it seem like the WL is such an exclusive thingDoes anyone know if there WL is an auto-reject like W&M's or do you actually have a shot if you stay on it?

Re: Emory 2011
I had to write a separate PS because Emory's prompt called for a more professional statement that centered on past experiences. Before I applied, I remember reading somewhere on TLS where an Emory staffer mentioned how some people just send in a PS without trying to address their prompt. Even though I felt like my default PS was stronger, I still ended up writing a catered statement for Emory after reading that. Not sure if that may help explain some of the more questionable WLs.innernetp wrote:Maybe they're really reading the essays? I got in with 75k with a 3.7 and 167. WL with a 3.7/167 I have wanted Emory since I decided to go to law school. However I moved to DC last month for a job and will prob go PT here somewhere, no harm no foul. Just confusion. I was really looking forward to the personalized acceptance packet... Oh well. Congrats and good luck to those accepted.

UGH waitlisted as well. Quite disappointed, I was very interested in Emory. Thought I would get in for sure with some money

There's prob a good chance that people with lower numbers on the WL are gonna get in considering Emory took so long to make decisions and then pissed off a ton of people with higher numbers.

Wait listed with 165/2.9. Pretty happy, hopefully a lot of people withdraw so I have a shot. Received full scholarship to St. Johns but I'll stick around the WL and write an LOCI. They seem to be looking at more than just numbers which I respect. Good luck to everyone.

waitlisted 158/3.85. Not complaining but completely shocked. I only applied because of the fee waiver and did not expect much.

Waitlist. Withdrawing now - good luck to anyone who wants my spot.
I'll be following the rest of the cycle though because it's clear that Emory changed their admissions philosophy this year, which is kind of cool and I hope it works out well for them in the long run even though it confused the hell out of us this cycle. I think it will get easier for them and for applicants next year.

I'm joining the club. Notre Dame with $$ isn't looking so bad.

Re: Emory 2011
If it's any reconciliation, I will prob withdraw my admission offer in the next few weeks. Emory went from my first choice (the first school I was stoked about) to a backup in a 2 week span. It isn't just the ranking. It's really the non-refundable scholarship.
