I love NYU, but when it comes to purple...http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ortCat=nba

Haha. Nice. Luckily, I've grown up enough not to choose my gradschool on the basis of school colors. But only just...

Oh purple, how I love thee!

I cant believe its been sent out on Friday and not there by today. Weird.
Maybe the letters will be dated for the 3rd/6th but not actually sent until a day or two later?

I know I have read about that happening with other schools this cycle

Gotcha. Sorry I'm just a little pessimistic. I'm ED and UR 10/20 :(
No worries :)

I'm RD and still UR 10/20.

I doubt NYU will ever beat CLS out for crossover app's on the whole, at least for the next few years. Too much prestige built up in the Columbia name, unless something drastic happens like Columbia has some embarrassing scandal or an NYU grad is elected President.

2 years ago this wasnt quite the case. Nyu vs columbia threads were all over the place. The consensus seemed to be they were equivalent schools, so go where you fit better. Since then, Nyu has slipped in the rankings quite a bit.

It wouldn't surprise me if they update the status checkers when they print off the official letter but take a few days to get all the envelopes stuffed, addressed and out into the mail.

Decision letter sent today for me according to the status checker. RD, application submitted mid-October. Here's hoping for an early Christmas present arriving during winter break.

In response to CastleRock;

Look, CLS is better than NYU, but not by that much. Sure, NYU has to admit more people because it is 15% larger, and has a lower yield, but besides that they are similar. CLS would appear to be superior to NYU in two respects.

First, because CLS has been around longer, they have more partners, especially at the elite NYC firms. So, if you are at the top of your class and want elite biglaw NYC, it should be easier from CLS than NYU.

Second, because CLS has more prestige, it is probably a better safety net for weaker students, i.e, its better to be bottom half at CLS than NYU for job placement. But, besides the extremes, I would think that people with similar class ranks (top 40%) at either CLS or NYU would probably have similar job offers and placement, everything else being equal.

Hey all! Ducking in for the first time, quick question:

My status just updated to 'Decision Letter sent', but the status date is 11/15. Should I be concerned about this? Or is it the general consensus that this is user error on NYU's part? Or backdating, or something odd?

I think people decided NYU is dabbling in some time traveling shenanigans.

My theory is that it means they decided to admit you back on 11/15 but they didn't mail it out til today. Congrats :)

Just got to this thread for the first time today...is general consensus that all letters are admits? Do we think NYU will continue to mail decisions out this week?

Maybe they scanned the "decision sent" envelopes in reverse chronological order??

Who knows, and as long as it's an acceptance I won't fricking care either
