I predict you hear back in 11 days and it will be a waitlist, possibly a rejection.

I'm hoping the earlier theory about admitting lots of 168s and 169s turns out to be true... that would work out quite well for me. :) Though I just sent in my app, so it sounds like no news on that front for awhile.

However, the deferrals do make sense. Keep them all on the edge of their seats. Play hard to get. Cornell, you tease... How we love you.

This gives credence to my Cornellian practical joke theory.

side note: I can't believe I'm so desperate for schools to acknowledge my existence that I'm sort of excited about getting my deferral letter.

I've been stuck since 11/17. I assume they're too busy with all of you EA applicants to check on whether my file is complete, right?

I got an email for application received. Does anyone else think their e-mails start off sounding like a rejection? I was worried I already had gotten rejected.

I found this gem on Cornell's website:

"The Status Check System will update your record when your status has changed. We understand that you want to know your status as soon as possible but we advise you to only check your status every few days instead of every few minutes."

Apparently they don't appreciate some of our neurotic tendancies.

I heard that's how they determine who gets deferred. They track all the people that constantly check their status, and regardless of their numbers, throw them in the deferred pile.
