I hope so, otherwise that is just really cruel.
Great acceptance to have!

Thanks! It just kind of took me by surprise. His e-mail was so long and his description of the campus and it being 5 minutes from the Ocean really made me want to go there...I hope they offer me some scholarship money.

I meant to say 5 miles, haha sorry. Still petty close though.

Hm. I searched LSN for this answer and I was left a bit confused. It looks like they started accepting some people early March. Is this correct (anyone)?
Anyway, if you want to communicate your unequivocal desire to attend, just do it now!
Good luck,

This part is totally credited. My only word of caution is not to say something unequivocal if it's not unequivocal; I couldn't tell from the rest of your post.
Thanks for the input. I want to do entertainment law so it definitely is my top choice. However, the only thing holding me back is that I have about 7 schools who I haven't heard from yet and I would want to see if I got any scholarship offers etc since tuition is an issue for me. That and I'm waiting to hear what Cornell says (I got deferred, and its pretty much in my backyard so it complicates things a little).

UCLA is 5 minutes from the ocean if you have a helicopter or perhaps a police escort on the 405 to the 10...
Nah, it's still 30 minutes.

While it is true that you should use caution in how you phrase your LOCI, I believe the relevant word in HL's statement was "desire" - and not "unequivocal". As long as your LOCI is about your
desire to attend, and obviously such desire should be stated unwaveringly, you're fine. What you don't want to make is an unequivocal
promise to attend if you're not sure yet. That could be construed as a contract.

Any opinions as to how many/how frequently LOCIs should be sent to the school? I was WLed back in December and sent one in January. I have pretty low nos. for UCLA but applied ED...so they know I reeeeeally want to attend, but don't want to bombard them with LOCIs...
any input would be greatly appreciated

Dean Schwartz said send one once a month...but for you, i would wait a little bit. they know you are already a bruin which makes it more likely that you will want to go and you applied ED. i think they know you want to go there. you might be better off sending a new letter of rec. or something else that makes you stand out.

yeah...working on getting another rec letter. But I figured as much- I wasn't really planning on sending another LOCI this month, but was kind of wondering if another one was necessary if there were no new developments.
on another note...I'm planning on retaking the June LSAT...any chance they'll take that into consideration if I'm still on the WL when scores come out? I know officially they say no, but I read somewhere about someone's sister getting off of a few WLs after taking the June exam..

Is UCLA ridiculously slow? I applied awhile ago and I haven't heard anything.

They certainly can be. They have a "patient" admissions approach. I applied in mid-October. Didn't hear a word from them until I got the call from Dean Schwartz in late January.

Has anybody who hasn't been waitlisted sent in a LOCI? Is it recommended to (not) do so? Enduring the silence since 11/17!

Great distinction and explanation.

Funny thing: It's been a week or so and I still haven't been able to pick up the package. I know it's arrived, but I haven't been able to get it yet. Word on the street is that Dean Schwartz will tell you if you've gotten any merit aid over the phone. I don't remember him saying anything about a scholarship.

(Still, in-state tuition is practically a scholarship unto itself.)

Question: Does anyone know if Berkeley and UCLA "trade" applicants the way the Ivy League schools do? It cannot be a coincidence that the moment after I got off the phone with Dean Schwartz, I got a ding email from Berkeley. It was the weirdest high, low, but back to high feeling I've had in a while.
