I was just curious about student loans through the school, I was given scholarship money (20,000/year) and I've already submitted my FAFSA (before April 1st, so I have priority consideration), but I'm not entirely clear on how the award amount works.... for example, does the school usually award enough in loans to cover the cost of admission? What are the award amounts based on? I'm pretty clueless on this issue, any insight would be appreciated.

Anyone can borrow up to $20,500 made up of subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans. You can borrow the difference between the $20,500 and total cost of attendance through Grad PLUS loans.

So.... is the $20,500 the total amount of subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans, or is that per year? Also, what are the qualifications to be eligible for a Grad PLUS loan?

They will start sending out award amounts after June 1st

Per year. The key qualification for Grad PLUS is no adverse credit items within the past five years. You don't need to have good credit.

I noticed that a lot more people have withdrawn from SMU on LSN. I know that is in no way representative of how many people in reality have withdrawn or sent in seat deposits, but here's to hoping that a lot of people withdraw to make more room for those of us still waiting on decisions.

Looks like those Ws alone total about a half-mil of scholarship money.

Good. Maybe they will toss 5K per year my way! It sure would go a long way toward being able to pay the bills AND tuition...

And I would feel like much less of a scrub if I didn't have to say, "I paid sticker" for law school

Nope. I've been complete since January. The complete date will just update at some point whenever decisions are coming out.
