I'm having a bad feeling that they may wait to get the batch of interviews done with first, and according to another poster who got emailed early the first available slot was Wednesday.

I know this is suggested facetiously, but can someone actually do something like this? It won't be me, because I'm the border of rejection and I don't wanna push myself over that line.

But people do need to know when decisions will be coming out. For example, with work and school I don't have time (or money) to fly to NY twice for admitted students days. NYU's is during my spring break so I can make that. But plans will need to change in order to make both NYU's and CLS's.

Ya, poo, CLS ASD is two days before my spring break, and the first day is the deadline for the paper I work at. Either I get my edits in the day beforehand (not gonna happen with my lucky) or I don't visit Columbia OR NYU [in case of acceptance at either, knocking all the wood right now].

My app was received on 1/6 but is not yet complete. I'm planning to give them a call next week to check on it, as it asked to allow "up to two weeks" to go complete, but I thought I'd check in here to see if this was unusual. Anyone else been in a similar position?

Same here, except they received my app on 1/2. I'm going to give them a bit longer before I call to ask if everything is okay.

Don't call them yet-it's not uncommon for it to take up to (or a little over) a month. However, a few people have reported delays in going complete due to not sending in a Dean's Certificate because they had a C&F disclosure from UG, so if you had a C&F disclosure from UG, make sure you sent one in.

I got the initial components received email/checker on 12/20 and went complete exactly a month later.

I was initially frustrated to see so many schools conducting interviews, but I've since decided it's probably a good thing. If you can't impress adcomms that are asking pretty straightforward questions and arelooking to admit you, how will you fare when you have to sell yourself in OCI interviews?

Remember, if you get an interview the school is seriously considering you as an applicant and you're being given the opportunity to improve adcomms perceptions of your app.

Agree with you generally SP, but it's been brought to my attention by the great people of this thread, that Columbia interviews are actually 100% random. They will interview people they have no intention to consider. It is a random pilot program. But, for other schools, yes. Absolutely.
