They call/email with acceptance offers. They email with waitlist offers. Straight DLs with neither a call or an email is a ding

Wasn't there a case of someone getting a DLS and not getting the call until the following day? Or did I make that up?

Re: Stanford C/O 2016 Applicants Thread
Maybe SLS changed its policy, but last year (and I think in previous cycles) receiving a DLS without a call from Dean Deal could mean a wait list or a rejection. I was WLed and got DLS without an email. The wait lists usually happen in April though, so my guess is any DLS before then is a ding. You could always call the admissions office and ask if you're dying to know before you get the letter in the mail.vzapana wrote:They call/email with acceptance offers. Interesting. I remember someone saying on this forum that they already received a WL offer via email.amc987 wrote:Maybe SLS changed its policy, but last year (and I think in previous cycles) receiving a DLS without a call from Dean Deal could mean a wait list or a rejection. I've always just assumed SLS was such a ridiculous long shot that I've never bothered to post on this thread, but I'm still sitting under review as of 11/02. Does this mean I might have a glimmer of hope still for a WL instead of just a straight ding?

Re: Stanford C/O 2016 Applicants Thread
help, i have a stupid question... i'm traveling out of the country for the next few months, so i've canceled my cell number. should i get in touch with schools that contact you through primarily phone to update them with my new number? it feels so presumptuous to me, b/c they'll only call if they admit you. SORRY STUPID QUESTION but all of this dls business is freaking me out (probably for no reason tho lbr)

I'm november under review as well. I think we aren't out of the ding woods yet -- seems like october completes got their DLS today, ours could come any time later this week or early next.hopelessoptimist wrote:I've always just assumed SLS was such a ridiculous long shot that I've never bothered to post on this thread, but I'm still sitting under review as of 11/02. Looks like my cycle's probably over, fellas... DLS - no call, no email, still all caps... Not ideal obviously, but luckily last week had some really great news and I'm thrilled with how it all turned out. On the bright side, the decision has now become much easier. For those of you still in it, good luck! I'm pulling for all of you TLSers and it's been a hell of a ride

I'm seeing that as a good sign actually! Being such an early applicant, you missed the big wave of dings, I optimistically suspect that they are either (a) waiting to call you during the next big batch or (b) waiting to see if you are going to send a LOCI, which will be the deciding factor. Have you sent a LOCI?Anonymous4444 wrote:Sep applicant still stuck at review. Oh Stanford why u hurt me so
Over on the HLS thread, I also optimistically suspect that KB takes longer to accept people following an interview than JS - so hopefully I'm right on one of the two fronts.

And...I still don't buy the notion that you should send a LOCI automaticallyBigZuck wrote:There was a "big wave" of dings?ManOfTheMinute wrote:I'm seeing that as a good sign actually! Her blog makes it sound like you should. She might believe that if you are both a person who wants to go to SLS and a person who should get admitted to SLS, you should have had something noticeable happen in the five months since you submitted and you should want to tell him about it...WhiteyCakes wrote:

Re: Stanford C/O 2016 Applicants Thread
so it should be more of a "what have you done since submitted" tone and not "LOOK AT ME FAWNING OVER YOU AND ALL THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE" LOCI?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
