Checking in! 166/3.76 with legal work experience so hopefully they see fit to extend an offer my way. Applied on 1/4. How quickly do things get turned around here? Good luck all...hopefully I don't find you and I wallowing in the 'Ding Bar' together.

Anyone else receive this? Came in this morning.
Greetings from Cornell Law School Admissions!
A few weeks ago we notified you that your file was complete and awaiting review. We're writing now just to check in and let you know that we're actively reviewing files and hope to reach yours in the coming weeks. Our process is a full-file-review process, which sometimes means that decisions take more time than a more numbers-oriented approach. We sincerely appreciate your patience and will update your status as soon as we have made a decision. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or e-mail us.

Didn't intend on applying but I just got a fee waiver, so guess I will be haha. 3.56/166 so i'm a bit surprised. I don't mind being part of their manipulation process to increase their selectivity. I don't expect to get in, but who knows.

Their system probably sends that email out automatically after the 1000th time an applicant signs in to their status checker.

I know... when dirty dreams and TLS start to integrate themselves, it's time to push the keyboard away. On the other hand, if Sunny looks anything like he did in my dream, then I'm getting infomercials like Ms. Cleo.shntn wrote: And that's only mildly creepy, iMisto.![]()

I'm down. We can offer group role-playing, whatever the team wants. Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Just the opposite. The marginal cost of admitting just 1 more student to the LS is near zero. But the marginal revenue is $200k. Add 10 new students, and it's a $2M payday. Of course, at a certain point, adding too many students requires another section/faculty member also be added.Big Dog wrote:I haven't been able to find a chart of this, but most of the T14 (maybe all?) spend more on their students than they charge in tuition, so letting in a handful more students than you would normally doesn't really help
Yes, on average, it costs more than $50k/pp to educate the undergrads. But that includes all of the engineering and science programs which can be very expensive on a per person basis. Lit/hume courses, OTOH... Undergrad programs also have to have the bed space (dorm facilities), which is not true for grad/professional schools.
Law schools tend to be cash cows for Universities (which is why law schools are still multiplying
like rabbits, even in this economy).[/quote
It is a fixed vs varible cost thing...the fixed costs at a law school are set vs the varible cost of letting a few more students.
