Went to campus today after brunch. Apparently you can't just waltz in for a self-guided tour.

they're a bit heavy on security, probably cause we leave expensive shit all over the place. I'll take you around sometimeshntn wrote:I assume mine is waiting at home.

Well I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon, but I'm sure I'll be back sometime in the near future.JamMasterJ wrote:they're a bit heavy on security, probably cause we leave expensive shit all over the place. I'll take you around sometimeshntn wrote:I assume mine is waiting at home.

Hoping that numbers jumps up a bit with another wave of ED acceptances tomorrow!Regulus wrote:Wow... there are currently 288 total users applying to NYU on LSN this cycle, and 109 (38%) of them have already been accepted.
Holy moly.Regulus wrote:Wow... there are currently 288 total users applying to NYU on LSN this cycle, and 109 (38%) of them have already been accepted.
unfortunately, I'm about 99% sure they don't. Though you might be able to snag a couch in one of the dorms once we put up the 1L's taking Qs thread.trojandave wrote:Does anyone know if NYU helps reimburse the cost of ASW?

I was bored, so I expanded regulus’ work, looking at LSN data for the other T20 schools.Regulus wrote:Wow... there are currently 288 total users applying to NYU on LSN this cycle, and 109 (38%) of them have already been accepted.
This is great- thanks!!vzapana wrote:I was bored, so I expanded regulus’ work, looking at LSN data for the other T20 schools.Regulus wrote:Wow... there are currently 288 total users applying to NYU on LSN this cycle, and 109 (38%) of them have already been accepted.
Ten of them have been excluded from my analysis. Of those 10, seven haven’t started admitting people in earnest. (This group includes Yale, Columbia and USC.) For the other three, fewer than 200 applicants have registered on LSN. Because of this, I’m not convinced that the LSN applicant pools are large enough to be representative samples. (This is an arbitrary cut-off, I know, but oh well…)
Based on my calculations, NYU, Duke and Georgetown are giving out admit letters like hotcakes.
NYU = 38.2% of applicants so far [vs. 24.2%, which is last year’s acceptance rate for the entire cycle]
Duke = 40.9% [vs. 15.3%]
Georgetown = 46.8% [vs. 27.0%]
Meanwhile, the three stingiest schools are Harvard [12.7%], Berkeley [17.9%] and UVA [17.9%].
One more interesting tidbit: It’s often assumed that the acceptance rate for applications submitted early in the cycle will be greater than the acceptance rate for the entire cycle. Well, this assumption is panning out for all but one of the schools I’ve looked at. The exception is Harvard. While it has accepted 12.7% of applicants registered on LSN, its acceptance rate last year was 15.9%. This is good news for any early applicants who are anxiously awaiting JS1/2s. This is even better news if the adage is true that the applicant pool on LSN is generally stronger than the applicant pool at large.
Here are the results:
Harvard – 33/259 = 12.7% [15.9% last year]
Berkeley – 55/308 = 17.9% [12.7%]
UVA – 68/380 = 17.9% [9.3%]
Cornell – 106/303 = 25.0% [20.7%]
Michigan – 97/343 = 28.3% [21.4%]
UCLA – 91/258 = 35.3% [20.1%]
GW – 73/203 = 36.0% [28.7%]
NYU – 110/288 = 38.2% [24.2%]
Duke – 140/342 = 40.9% [15.3%]
Georgetown – 171/365 = 46.8% [27.0%]
