Am I the only person who had no idea I even wanted to go to law school until October? Didn't take the LSAT until December...applied to Stanford late January.
Do you think applying late hurt my chances?

It almost always does, but there's really no way to know in any particular case. Tell us your approximate stats and where you've gotten in, where in with money, where waitlisted and where rejected and we'll be able to tell you with some certainty (barring some terrible LoR or PS) whether it hurt you.cuddlingbunnehs wrote:Am I the only person who had no idea I even wanted to go to law school until October? The group has fewer than 100 members right now, and unless a lot of admits decided not to join the group or are still pending approval, this seems way too few at this point in the cycle.
Thanks for this...you are now my new TLS God.

Those not joining the google group may just not be comitted enough and still waiting for H/S before showing their face. The berkley FB group has like 20 people in it. There are many more admitted applicants out there. And SLS and Berkeley have a somewhat close yield (43 - 33% I think).
But I hope there are oodles of spots left.

Where are you finding the yields? I'm surprised by how high that yield is for Berkeley (also I think that the difference between 43% and 33% is significant).EMZE wrote:Those not joining the google group may just not be comitted enough and still waiting for H/S before showing their face. I've been able to read my LORs so I know those won't be an issue, and I've had my personal statement looked over by my career services department, so I'm thinking those should be ok.
Accepted:
NYU
Berkeley
Penn
UT
WashU
Waitlisted:
Columbia
Chicago
Northwestern
Duke
Georgetown
Rejected:
Nowhere (yet...)
Got scholarship money to UT and WashU, but haven't heard back from anywhere else on money except NYU (no money there). Since I applied sort of late I just finished some supplemental scholarship apps within the past couple of weeks. Berkeley should be telling me soon.

It sounds to me like you performed pretty much according to your numbers... although I would have expected you to get into Northwestern, Duke and Georgetown. You would probably have gotten in had you applied earlier.cuddlingbunnehs wrote:3.86/170bogm2012 wrote:It almost always does, but there's really no way to know in any particular case. Agree with freestallion. You may have even gotten lucky with the NYU admit. The idea is that they try to protect their LSAT median.freestallion wrote:It sounds to me like you performed pretty much according to your numbers... although I would have expected you to get into Northwestern, Duke and Georgetown. This cycle has been odd, and late applicants seem to have been treated better because due to applicant/test-taker drops, schools can't afford to arbitrarily (IMO) discriminate against them as they have in the past.

I know its "recommended" to send a LOCI via snail mail, but given the late stage of the game and Stanford's reputation for being prompt with email I'd prefer to email it...does anyone have a recommendation of who to email to/an email address?
