8 weeks and overdue. Yesterday was holds, today were admits. Hopefully the next batch isn't a pelting of dings. And if it is, hopefully I'm not in it!

Of course they would keep the dings in suspense longest.

Ostensibly, they don't want to hand out any dings until they're sure they can't accommodate the person in a class... So it makes sense. In a perverse way they're doing us favors... I am sure my ding is coming off Hold soon enough.

Or, they just didn't get around to their file yet. Especially auto-dings. If they keep them uninformed just so they can reject them later with their dinged brethren, that just sucks.

Got my portfolio today... wasn't expecting it, so it was a nice little present in my mailbox. It was postmarked 1/21...so it's had a slow ride here to the southwest. accepted 1/7.

Mine was postmarked 1/27 and arrived today (admitted 1/7 also), so apparently it teleported to Oregon. I can barely get mail across Portland in 2 days, let alone from snow-bound Chicago!

I responded to last week's twitter posting asking if any JD applicants wanted consideration for the AJD. Now my status shows AJD. That being said I have been complete since 9/27. The status site states AJD applicants will not hear back before April -- but the application checklist for AJD applicants states February 1. Clarifications from admissions is needed.

I'm AJD and certainly hope that we hear by tomorrow (as they promised us).

Actually, the status site states that two-year JD applicants will receive a decision in April. The two-year JD program is for international lawyers hoping to earn a JD in the U.S., while the AJD program is an accelerated program for prospective attorneys that do not already have a foreign JD. ADJ candidates are supposed to hear by February 1st because they need to submit financial aid information by February 15th and a seat deposit by March 15th.

I applied 1/14 and have yet to hear anything at all from Northwestern--no app acknowledgement email, no status checker, nothing. Should I be concerned and maybe contact them, or is this par for the course?

I'm in Chicago, anxiously waiting a response...but the forecasters are predicting a major blizzard, so I wouldn't hold out much hope for movement from Chicago schools this week. They're saying we'll get up to 3 inches/hour...

You should receive an email with your applicant ID #. You will use this ID# to log into the status checker and see if your application is complete. I know this is peak time for their applications but its been over two weeks so I would consider contacting them.

i remember reading a post where someone called either thurs or friday about this and the admissions office said that the 8 week thing is a just a guideline and not a bright line rule.

Well, I called a day before my deadline, and they told me that the 8 weeks was a deadline and that I should hear by Friday. I didn't.
