So, are most EA people just deferred instead of outright rejected?

I went from 11/18ish - 11/29 - 12/10 and no news....I am hoping that this could be interrupted as good news in that they still haven't rejected/deferred me! Here is to wishful thinking.

Feels like i'm up in front of a firing squad--no news is good news from Cornell this morning. I updated 12/1--12/10/--12/14.

I got deferred this morning and on my status checker it now says Decision status: Deferred to regular applicant pool and Decision Status Date: 12/14/2010. My last update before this was 12/7 if that helps in any way.

So does Cornell do one round of emails daily in the 10-11 AM hour?

yeah i'm pretty sure, although i've seen a couple days with 2 rounds (the second one being later around 2pm-ish) maybe there will be good news later today!

Deferred. It went from 12/2 to 12/7 to 12/14 Decision: Deferred to Regular Applicant Pool.

There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to who they're accepting vs. deferring.

Finally in review 12/13.
Anyone knows how long do they reach a decision?
Also, what does defer mean? It is a EA not a ED, does defer make any sense? Sounds like a waiting list option tho.

I'd much prefer to get a rejection than to have to wait any longer for a final decision.

12/1---->12/7----->12/14

No deferral email yet, but I guess it's on its way. :(

:( So sorry to those who got deferred today. But, to those who have asked, the general consensus is that deferred =/= waitlist, but means you'll be reconsidered later in the cycle, maybe Feb. And, I'll point out, the afternoon wave that came yesterday was positive. Also, it followed a status update pattern that matched those of others who got deferred, only our statuses changed later on the same day. So, having the same status update pattern as a deferred bunch doesn't necessarily mean you'll be deferred, if you haven't heard yet. Good luck to those waiting!
