Re: W&L 2011 Applicants
Does anyone need an apartment? I'm transferring, and I am looking for someone to assume my lease. The apartment is $400 a month. It was renovated last year. It has a washer/dryer, A/C, parking, and is very close to downtown. The lease runs from August 2011 to July 2012. You will be able to move in the first week of August. I'll pay for August's rent. Send me a message if you are interested.

Hopefully it'll be soon. I'm signing a lease for a place soon so once I do that I'm not going to be able to go to W&L.lalala21 wrote:seems like they are going through a lot of people to find someone to fill a seat(s) .... maybe there is still a chance of good news for us still on the wait list ?

Re: W&L 2011 Applicants
I'm glad to see so many positive experiences from people who have visited. I just finished my first year at SMU, but am looking to transfer back close to home (DC) and just got accepted as a transfer student. I'll be taking some 1L classes with y'all if I go, so I thought I'd stop in and reiterate what y'all have said about Mr. Twitty. He's an absolutely great guy and his sincerity and candor have really stood out (to be honest, the W&M office was so awful that I didn't even apply). Plus, their turn-around time was the fastest in my cycle. Actually, I don't expect to hear back from the other DC schools until the end of July.
From talking with current students and looking at the numbers, is DC/NOVA W&L's biggest market? While I think I'd go to Georgetown or GW if accepted since family issues have pushed me back home, I'm starting to eliminate American, Catholic, and George Mason based on the ranking and allure of W&L. Anyone from the DC area have any comment on the whole W&L vs. lower-ranked DC schools for employment in the city?
Also, since I won't know where I'll be until the end of July, how readily available are apartments in the area? I probably won't have more than two weeks after making my decision to move down and settle in somewhere.
Congrats to all who have been accepted and will attend in the fall!

Re: W&L 2011 Applicants
I went to GW for UG and know a lot of lawyers in DC. Generally American and Catholic aren't that well respected except for maybe a smaller fraction of the community. George Mason is def moving up in reputation. Those three are not as well respected as W&L. W&L has put a good amount of grads in DC in the past but the DC market is pretty tough to break into so most likely you're looking at VA and maybe NC but mostly VA.

Thanks for the response. When you say VA for placement, are you talking Richmond/Charlottesville or would you throw in Arlington/Alexandria/Fairfax as well?

Can't say for sure but prob Richmond/Charlottesville has higher percentage just based on proximity. If you ask W&L, they might be able to give you a more specific breakdown within VA.SpencerPratt wrote:Thanks for the response. This has probably been discussed, but why is W&L not in the most recent Princeton Review book of the Best 172 law schools?

Re: W&L 2011 Applicants
Congratulations to everyone who has been admitted so far! W&L is really a great place to be.
I'm a rising 2L transferring out and I'm looking for someone to take my spot in a house in Lexington. The location is good (25 minute walk/five minute drive from the law school), the house is really nice (it has a sun room and a LARGE basement), and the rent is only $315 a month + utilities. The other three housemates are three rising 2L guys.
I'd be willing to cover the security deposit (which has already been paid) and August rent. If anyone is interested, PM me and we can discuss it further.

Long time since I've been on here ... that December LSAT got me down...
Did anyone else get the waitlist interest email? I sent back that I was still interested, but I'm not really sure what to think .....

Just this morning. It said that they will probably be extending more offers and if I was interested in attending.

I haven't done anything though (to express any further interest, as I had pretty much decided on taking this year to work), and I'm afraid I'm getting myself worked up for nothing. Does anyone know if this is a good sign?
