Accepted via e-mail and status checker. Submitted my application 1/23.

Unable to login to admitted students website, even though I am typing in my DOB mm/dd/yyyy. That's slightly irritating.

Oh well, I am still stoked!!

I am kind of wary about Hofstra because of the TLS profile. Has anyone visited the campus?

Finally received my scholarship offer, admitted 2/9. 25,000 if I stay in the top 40%. Does this seem like a good offer or is top 40% pretty strict?

btw, can anyone give me a COL estimate for the area? I know LI is expensive but I'm trying to gauge rent..etc. Thanks!

Hi everyone. This is what the mailing on my status checker looks like.
Do you think the 2/18 or 2/25 mailing is for scholarship?
I can't think of what else those mailings could be.
Anyone have any info or ideas? Thanks.

Nope. Just below on both counts. However I believe my URM status and soft factors significantly bolster my profile. Regardless, I am into similiarly ranked and better ranked schools, so I might withdraw shortly. I'll have to think about it for a bit.

That's what mine is showing as well. I hope it is some scholly info. Although I have been accepted to a couple of higher ranked schools so I am not sure what my decision would be. I am still on the fence about Hofstra.

Personally, I was "under review" since 2/23 but I have heard of other people having a 1 or 2 day turnaround (UR to Accept)...

My misguided theory is that the more you check your status, the quicker an answer will come... LOL

Not really, but I cant avoid checking every couple hours anyways.. Good luck!

Are "under review" and "file with admissions committee" different statuses?

If I remember correctly, "file with admissions committee" comes shortly before a decision (at least in my case). I was under review for about 2 weeks before the file went to the committee, and then it was another 7-10 days before I received a decision. Compulsive status checking unfortunately does not hurry things along, but I know it can be hard to control

When you say "it was another 7-10 days before I received a decision", did that decision come in the mail, email, or did you see it on the status checker?

I went complete on 2/23. My status checker said "under review" on 2/25, and on 3/1 it changed to "file with admissions committee." Is it usual for the process to go so fast? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? We're talking about a little over a week from the day LSAC sent the report, to my file being with the admissions committee... Hofstra is one of my top choices (although I applied to some higher ranked schools). Fingers crossed over here...

Who knows bro, welcome to the application game.

I applied mid Jan., went complete in a week, then was updated 3 weeks later to "File with Admissions Committee".

According to people on TLS 7-10 days (on average) after that they had a decision.

Good Luck.

Well, either way I suppose I'll know soon enough. Thanks though. Good luck to you too.

I applied 2/1 and the file has been pending committee review since 2/11...don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing on the time length though

Hey does anyone know when Hofstra usually releases info on scholarship/fellowship $ to those that applied? I was admitted back in December and applied for their Dwight L. Greene Memorial Scholarship.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
