Denver sounds like an amazing place to live. However, I am just a little worried about the career prospects after graduation. It sounds like Denver pretty much plays second fiddle to CU-Boulder grads in the area. Also the bar passage rate seems to be a bit lower than the rest of the state and that's sort of concerning. Has Denver improved on this? What does the Denver legal market really look like?

Also, is there anyone else who is shooting for the "Chancellor's Scholarship?"

At least in Denver there is not much competition between the two from what I have seen. What I mean by that is I’ve never heard of ANYONE saying they lost a job to a CU student because of rank. DU has far more alumni in Denver so the vast majority of lawyers and judges that I know (and I know a lot) went to DU if they went in state. DU has just put out more grads and CU so there are more working here. Outside of CO I’m sure CU’s ranking helps, but from what I have seen instate, or at least in Denver its really a non issue in trying to get a job. Your far more likely to be competing for a job with a few fellow DU grads than a few CU grads, DU graduates like 3-400 a year I think CU is 100 or so.

As to bar passage rate and what the school has done see my post above. They have really done a lot to improve that. All that being said whether or not you pass the bar is really up to the individual not the school. Again DU’s class size affects this plus having a PT program where most grads are working. Putting in enough study time to pass and working fulltime, having a family, a house to take care of ect. Makes it harder to pass than a day student who can focus 100% on the bar.

Anyway I am not saying DU is a better school than CU, just that what I have seen in the market, at least in Denver, it does not matter which school you went to to the local employors, they pretty much treat them the same from what I have seen.

Ok tell me what you guys think. I went complete 1/28 and my status checker updated to "decision processed" on 2/3. Yet here I sit with no e-mail. I actually applied with hopes of seeing a little bit of scholarship money(160/3.65), but now my lack of acceptance e-mail has got me nervous. Did anyone else have to wait this long between Decision Processed and Acceptance E-mail?

I assume you meant that you updated to "decision processed" on 2/3. I updated to the same status without any email as well. I think it's been the case that if you don't get the accepted email within about 24 hours of the decision processed update that you are either waitlisted or rejected. I am in the same boat as you. I am a 160/3.4 and I didn't get the email. I am expecting a waitlist or rejection in the mail in the next day or two. I am pretty disappointed.

My girlfriend got accepted with half ride and she has a slightly lower GPA than yours and the same LSAT. She applied earlier but either way I think you're getting at least some $.

IU = Bloomington ?

For me the decision between spending the next 3 years (and likley most of your carear) in Pittsberg, Bloomington, or Denver is a no brainer, Denver.

Just a note foreverone, based soley on my experince after 5 years of law school (PT JD + MLS/LLM). Unless your going to a top 25 or school what people say about schools being regional is true. Its not that you can't get a job outside of CO with a Du or Cu degree, its just that its much, much, mucher easier to get a local job from a local school. Because of almunia, careasr services stuff, networking, clerking, local rep and stuf its just so much easier to get a local job than get an out of state job. I be willing to bet its the same at any law school, absent the top 25 or so, that its going to be easiest to get a job in the same city as where you went to school.

Therefore its my advice that when you guys all do decide where to go to school that you make sure yur willing to live and work there for the next 20+ years, or if its a school in BFE that you have the resources to move to a new city and pound the pavement for a while until you can find something. A law degree is NOT that portable for two reasons, you have to take the bar in every state you want to pratice (or wait seven years) and the law is all about who you know so you can get deals done. So the idead that you might start your carear in one state for five years then move cross country to a new state and pratice is not usually the way it works. Just some stuff to think about.

I'm on the east coast too. The date on my status change is yesterday and I didn't see till this morning, so I'm assuming it happened late. Maybe I'll get a notification email at trivia happy hour today. I will go nuts. I've been saying all along (are you listening ad-comms) that I will be there in a heartbeat if the $$ is right. mhd08 we can bring some east coast Swagger to the laid back mountain west.

If you don't get somethingout of OCI your sorta stuck in a cornflied w/o a job or way to meet people who can get you a job until you gradute.

Bloomington has a metro near 200k, and it's only 55 miles from Indianapolis, which has a metro of 1.7 million. So, it's really not nearly as "BFE" as Iowa.

Don't think so. I know some people with huge numbers who had "decision processed" last week and have still not got the email

m, don't worry girl. You'll be fine. I have really high hopes to get in and I haven't heard either. On LSN they are showing everything from 157/3.8 to 171/2.8 getting admitted. Thursday/Friday are allegedly big days, so it will be right on time.
