I'm trying to figure out if I get off of the PWL, will I be able to do the summer start. Sounds doubtful though...

I saw on LSN that someone went from WL to Accepted. I was wondering if anyone here had heard back, or if that was in fact someone also posting here.
Also, I know that someone called about the WL and the admissions person had mentioned there was 20 people on the Priority WL, yet it seems like there is at least 10 people here that are on the Priority WL, myself included. I am a little suspect that a half or at least a third of those people are posting here. Just my thought.
Trying to stay optimistic.

I called the admissions office about the PWL and they told me that there were around 150 PWL offers given out this year. They also said that last year a large number of people who were placed on the PWL decided to not to remain on the list. Thus most of the people on the PWL were pulled off the list. Who knows what will happen this year?

Ok, so the Priority WL is 150 people and not 20 then? And any idea what the project class size or avg. class size is for 1L?

I can't imagine that their Priority Waitlist alone is the size of the 1 L class...

That would make more sense (and be less disconcerting)...

So I just called the office and apparently there are around 75 people on the priority waitlist and 150 on the regular? I'm so confused...Why would there be sooo many people on the PWL if the class size is 150? I heard that there were only 20 people on PWL, not 75!!!! Even if a lot of people don't respond, that is still a huge list. Now I'm not so sure that I will be getting in...

Well that sucks... Is the admissions office giving different people different numbers or what? If this post is true I do not see how (realistically) anyone on the regular wait list will receive an offer. Sorry for the pessimistic post hopefully I am wrong!

I didn't ask specifically what my number is or if I even have one...I just asked if the PWLers had a higher chance of being admitted (since the list is so large) and she said yes because that is the list that they go to first. I get the feeling that a lot of people have not responded to show their interest in remaining on the list, so the PWL will probably be a lot smaller than 75 in the end.

I was just notified today that I was placed on the priority waiting list. I am curious to know exactly how many people are really on this thing. I actually like what I hear about this school. Anyone actually attending next fall for sure?

I was told "unofficially" by two different people in admissions that there were roughly 20 people on the PWL. I don't think I'm the only one that heard that number, either. This sudden inflation seems a little bit fishy.

Yea that's also what I was told (that theyre about 20 on the PWL) - maybe the 75 -150 is for the entire WL? It simply just doesn't make sense given that their class sizes are about 150.

I've heard 20 on the PWL and 130 on the regular WL numerous times. I'd imagine what they meant is the WL has been reduced to 75 due to withdrawals or the entire PWL+WL has been reduced to 75. There's no way there's 75 people on the PWL.

They make it sound like you are almost guaranteed admittance off of the priority waiting list in the letter, so I would find it hard to believe that they have 75 people on it...

Also on the HOLD at FSU, and it seems that all of these schools got applications that they (pardon the double negative) couldn't not accept. As in, they could not reject applicants that might be applying to these schools as a safety but with very high numbers. The school is not going to reject an applicant because their numbers are too high and therefore might not attend the school. It seems like the schools are almost creating two yields, and in accepting a lot of people that might be too qualified who will end up withdrawing, they need to make more tiers of WL's or HOLD lists. Hopefully things will open up when people start sending (or not sending) deposits.
Just a thought. Perhaps I might be overanalyzing this a bit.

Yeah well I seriously did call the admissions office this week and they told me around 75 people on the PWL and 150 on the regular...What's up with all of these contradicting numbers? Does anyone know with whom they spoke in the admissions office that said there are only 20 people on the PWL? Maybe the woman I spoke with is wrong.......
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
