It turned out to be an invitation to Law Day in march.

when are they going to send out the scholly info?
"The majority of scholarships are awarded between December and February of each admission cycle, or until the scholarship funds are exhausted."
"Notification of an institutional scholarship award usually takes place three to four weeks after admission."
Those quotes come from the admissions packet. I was accepted on 11/13. I guess its still early but i was just being hopeful

. Don't worry jt we will be victorious soon enough.

In by snail mail!
Sent 11/12, acknowledgment e-mail 11/13
Stats on LSN (above both 75%)
I was a UM undergrad, and I live less than an hour away from the school, FWIW.

I will definately be trying to go if I'm still considering Miami in March.

I just received notification via snail mail that I've been placed "on hold."
Submitted on 11/16.
Not quite sure what exactly this means... Is this UM's version of the waitlist?
I've been asked to submit any additional materials that might allow the admissions committee to learn more about me and was told that the committee would review my application again prior to April 30.
I already submitted quite a few attachments with my initial application that identify me as a unique candidate. Have already taken the LSAT twice, and I've been out of UG for a few years so final grades aren't an issue. Submitted three recommendations too...
Has anyone else been put "on hold."???
I'm assuming this means I still have a shot. But realistically, is this just the waitlist? Or is there a separate waitlist for UM? Thoughts?

I have also been placed on hold.
3.04
159
Looks like Miami is tightening up their criteria, although I think that some minor inconsistencies in my application materials are the most likely culprit.
I took the LSAT on december 5th and killed it, I am pretty sure that I will score above 165.
FOR THOSE WHO ARE WAITLISTED***
I called the admissions office and told the lady that I retook the LSAT in december and she said that it was a good thing that I told her because she made a note on file. She asked me if I thought I did better and she made note of it. She said they would review it again as soon as they receive the new lsat score. FWIW

That's surprising. I thought 159 was at the 75th percentile for UMiami.

Maybe the tightened criteria has to do with the size of last years cycle. If you look at last years thread, Miami started to send out letters to accepted students giving them the option to defer for a year because they had admitted more students than they had anticipated. I don't know how many actually took the offer or if there is a correlation. Maybe they are putting more people on hold this year to avoid the same problem. Its just a thought.

My understanding is that being on hold is better than WL. On hold means they will look at your application in a few months after they have a more complete picture of this years applicant pool. While on wl you have no guarantee that they will ever look at your app again.
