Also just got a reminder email about the WL process. Pretty sure I remember reading that they sent this same email last year and then the first JS1s came about a week or so after. I guess they want to make sure people aren't riding the WL with no intention to go to HLS if accepted off the WL.

That's good to hear ! Do you think we should just ignore the email or respond explaining that we'd still like to remain on the Waitlist .

I don't think you need to respond unless you're withdrawing.

I haven't sent in a LOCI yet. Do you think visiting campus is helpful at all, just to be able to say I did? Or is a trip totally redundant given the fact that I have accepted a spot on the waitlist?
I don't know how much it would help your chances of getting in, but if a visit is feasible, why not go? At the very least it might strengthen your interest, which might make your LOCI more compelling. Is it easy for you to get there?
So you can go and do a self tour, but unlike literally any other school you can't sit in on a class. Or talk to anyone in admissions but the (very nice) recent undergrad who sits at the front desk. So it is honestly kind of a waste of time unless you are literally going there to evaluate if you would want to live in Cambridge and/ or (what I did) looking at another, friendlier program on campus that actually does tours and let's you sit in on classes. If you're applying for a dual degree it might be worth it, if you're law only I think you'll feel like it was a waste of time

Does anybody know if language in an offer letter would prevent you from staying on the waitlist at other schools? I want to stay on H's waitlist but obviously don't want to be in conflict by accepting a seat at another school.

Language in question from the offer letter is "By accepting our offer . . . you have withdrawn all applications pending at other law schools . . . ".

I found this Asha post very useful. I don't think you are required to withdraw:

The specific LSAC Guidelines that she refers to are found HERE on page 2! Others should still chime in.

This is very helpful - thank you so much!

(as an aside - Go Bears!)

EDIT: I am a deferral applicant. I'm wondering if this would apply to me as an "Early Decision" type of offer.

Go Bears!

I'm not sure I understand the deferral fact. Are you deferring admissions to another law school? Because I feel like there are tighter standards when it comes to that. I recall that the applications to law school ask about deferrals for some of the ethic questions. If you applied ED and were deferred to regular admissions, I'd assume that no longer counts since you weren't bound to the school at that point.

Sorry, should have been more clear. I applied with the intent to defer attendance until 2017 (for various reasons). Some schools, instead of having you apply and then defer, have you apply as a deferral candidate from the outset. The school in question (with the language I'm questioning) is one of the schools with the latter policy.

Just checking - you're also intending to defer H until 2017 if admitted? If so, the waitlist isn't for you, per http://hls.harvard.edu/dept/jdadmission ... -waitlist/:
IF I AM ADMITTED, CAN I DEFER ENROLLMENT?
No. Offers of admission from the waitlist are to fill spaces in this year’s entering class only. If you know that you will not accept an offer of admission to enroll this fall, we ask that you withdraw from the waitlist.

I did "Letter of Continued Interest - Firstname Lastname" ...I don't know that there is one right answer to this.
I did the same. I wouldn't stress about it. Application Update or Supplements could suffice too.

Do they do information sessions in the spring? I attended one in the fall that included a campus tour - if not, then I'm inclined to agree with eck456.
Don't believe there's spring info sessions, but if you're willing to take the time to travel there don't think it could possibly hurt

I did have one sent from the dept that gave me a fellowship at another harvard grad school...the person i talked to about it said if you do it they should probably be internal to harvard or an outstanding Hls alum that you have a real connection with who can speak deeply about you. i recognize things look a little different from the dual degree perspective...

When is the "Commit day" for HLS?

This is maybe a really silly question, but when you send a LOCI, should you put it in the body of an email or send it as an attachment? Sending it in the body of an email makes more sense for me, but maybe it's easier for them if I send it as an attachment…

Okay, thanks! I've definitely been over thinking this letter and I just need to send it in…

Thanks! Hopefully some JS1s start trickling in shortly after the date. The Facebook group is wayyyy too small compared to prior years; and from what I see, a lot of people appear to be headed to Y or S.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
