Date change today, can't remember having one since my app has been awaiting review. Wondering if a decision is finally coming down the pike. Submitted RD early Nov.

Informed of Moritz Merit Scholarship. In-state tuition & stipend. Only applicants with Ohio residency are eligibible ?Billy Madison wrote:Date change today, can't remember having one since my app has been awaiting review. I don't think residency matters for the Moritz Scholarship. Be wary of that scholarship tho, it is contingent on maintaining a 3.0 which is absurdly high for a scholarship. For reference the only other conditional scholarship I have is to a peer school (different region) and it is 50% tuition but a 2.0 minimum (aka the minimum to not be on academic probation).yenisey wrote:Informed of Moritz Merit Scholarship. I think the best part is all the materials are due by Feb 15... It's seems like most people haven't even been accepted yetMOKE4311 wrote:I don't think residency matters for the Moritz Scholarship. I haven't. I'm confident I will get in but this is better than Vanderbilt's equivalent - that was due in December.Tiddlywinks wrote:I think the best part is all the materials are due by Feb 15... "We sent emails to both students who have already been admitted, as well as some students whose files are still in processing (they applied by Feb 1 but haven’t yet received a decision) who would likely be good candidates. So, it is both a notification and an invitation. Basically, we just don’t want anyone to miss the deadline!"

Anyone have an idea of when we will hear about scholarships. Kinda crazy to have admitted students weekend this upcoming week when no one knows what their financial offer is.

Seems like a lot of things have been out of joint with OSU this cycle.lawlawlaw22 wrote:Anyone have an idea of when we will hear about scholarships. Kinda crazy to have admitted students weekend this upcoming week when no one knows what their financial offer is.

It's pretty ridiculous, and I'm not too happy about it. As someone who is basing 80% of my decision on employment outcomes and COA, the scholarship is what really influences my decision.lawlawlaw22 wrote:Anyone have an idea of when we will hear about scholarships. If anyone receives scholarship info, please let us know.

The admissions staff says that 85% of ALL students manage to maintain 3.0 and 98% of those granted Moritz Merit Scholarship manage to maintain 3.0. On top of that, the dean says nobody has failed to renew this Scholarship due to minus-3.0 GPA since 15 years before.MOKE4311 wrote:I don't think residency matters for the Moritz Scholarship. Re: Ohio State c/o 2019 Applicants
I can definitely confirm this. Moritz used to have a 2.5 gpa requirement for scholarships above 10k, but even with that only one person in the pervious 6 years had that taken away. Moritz curves to essentially a 3.3 so it's hard to get under a 3.0 and if you do consider dropping out. Lastly, I straight up asked the dean about section stacking before I enrolled and he confirmed via email that they do not engage in the practice so there's that.MOKE4311 wrote:Wow well alright then I stand corrected.yenisey wrote:The admissions staff says that 85% of ALL students manage to maintain 3.0 and 98% of those granted Moritz Merit Scholarship manage to maintain 3.0. No aid information, and they said it could be "weeks to months". If that's the case, they can piss off.

Anyone else get the email titled "OSU Moritz College of Law Scholarship Update"? No actual scholarship email, just an update that they are coming soon. Got my hopes up and dashed them very quickly.

Did that email sound like they don't care if we go there to anyone else?
