Status date disappeared today. Does this mean I can expect an answer soon or is it insignificant?

Mine disappeared yesterday too and I have no idea what this means either... has made me very anxious!

I'm a current 1L at SMU, and I've loved my experience thus far. If anyone has any questions, or would like to get an honest perspective of the school feel free to ask me here or PM me.

So I'm an undergrad at SMU, and as much as I've grown to love it, the culture was definitely a shock for me at first. Can you give some insight as to what the law school culture is like? Thanks for your help.

I think there's definitely a different feel to SMU's law school than there is to the undergraduate school. We're kind of removed into the Northwest corner of campus, and don't have many events to mix with the rest of the campus. As far as the culture of the law school; it's very collegial. I've never encountered a situation where I couldn't get notes from a classmate, or a classmate wouldn't be willing to help me work through any areas I'm having difficulty in.
There's definitely a sense among most of the students that we'll be working with each other for most of our careers (most of us fully intend to work in Dallas), and keeping a good reputation and being helpful are very important in addition to grades.
The professors I've had thus far have by and large been enjoyable; they hold you accountable as professional students in their classes, but also treat you with the respect that being such a professional entitles you to.

Not really a law question but I am a fan of sports, how is the turnout at football and basketball games there? I know they have a good basketball team at the moment but are students supportive and pack the stadiums?

As to the law school itself, is it old and outdated on the inside or pretty up to date?

Football is very fair weather (both literally and figuratively). If it's a crappy year or crappy weather, the stadium (at least the seats) are completely empty. I can't speak to hoops.

The law school facilities are older, but very nice, and the larger classrooms have been updated somewhat recently (recently enough to support current technology). It also helps that it's done in a timeless style that ages well, unlike some of the higher-ranked public schools in this state.

SMU football still had a long row to hoe but Chad Morris seems to be a good coach. Basketball team is good again with Larry Brown as the head coach but that have a postseason ban this season so there isn't much to play for at this point. All this is just from the perspective of a college sports fan, not as an SMU student so I can't comment on fan support at sporting events.

Im a big sports fan myself and the Dallas Stars are my fav team. The fans tend to go to whoever is winning at the moment. When a team is contending, it's venue will sell out. I agree with the comments that the way they are updating the buildings make them look timeless. I've been to the law campus many times, and it's good to see these updates. When I visited last month they were working on the classroom building. On a side note, I believe even the SMU golf team got itself sanctioned.

ETA: I was planning on attending the April 1st date myself.

Could someone please share how soon after notification you received the admissions package? Was it express delivery? Thank you!

At least a week for me, if not a week and a half.

Congrats to you too! I wish I could go check out the campus, but I live in GA. Is SMU at the top of your list?

No. I will be retaking LSAT in June and see next year if I can get into a different University. I really like SMU but I don't know yet if I want to be limited by just being able to stay in Texas. I guess a large part of it depends on the amount of scholarship I'll receive as well. You?

I feel you. I'm definitely going to law school this year and SMU is pretty high on my list, but it really depends on scholarship money as well. I had a personal reason for going to SMU, but things changed and I"m pretty sure I just want to stay in GA unless I get a big scholly from SMU, which seems pretty unlikely. But we'll see :)

I know it's been mentioned before but the most SMU gives (unless you get the Sumners) is 30k, and they DO NOT negotiate.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
