I finally broke down the other day and emailed to ask about scholarships. No response yet, but from what you guys are saying it seems like I already have my answer. Honestly I'm pretty surprised to not get anything with my LSAT score. I liked Iowa but the odds of me going there without scholly money drop to effectively zero, best of luck to everyone else.

I just withdrew, so hopefully that opens up a spot for someone and gets some money back in the pool for financial aid. Best of luck, y'all!

Good news for Iowa. But I really wonder why Iowa is placed so high. Its employment numbers roughly equals those of 30ishes (for instance, OSU), much paler than its ranking peers like USC, BU, ND or Emory.CJRpnw wrote:2017 USNWR rankings partially leaked this morning. Same boat. But I believe you will receive some scholarship, unless Iowa scholarship policy swerves very scharp this year.Shib26 wrote:I finally broke down the other day and emailed to ask about scholarships. Iowa performs pretty well in LST employment score but it is far from a peer with USC, BU, ND or Emory in the combined number of biglaw and federal clerkship.Yewigmo wrote:http://www.lstscorereports.com/national/2014/yenisey wrote:Good news for Iowa. Re: Iowa Class of 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I just visited Iowa last weekend, and they said they had already extended all the scholarship offers they had this year. A lot of the accepted students were really upset after that (including my SO, who was one of the many people who had never received a scholly email). I think their scholly data is a little misleading...a lot of people get full or near-full, and a lot get nothing. I'm sure more money will show up at some point once people start withdrawing, but I wouldn't count on anything until May or later.yenisey wrote:Same boat. Would you mind not posting the same comment over and over in multiple threads? Maybe I am coming out of left field with this assumption, but you seem to take umbrage with Iowa's ranking.
Why is the "T20" ranking so irksome to you? I am most likely going to be choosing between UCLA, a solid T20, and UW, a school in ratings freefall since 2012, currently coming in at 33. I have connections in both cities, personal and professional. I am not sure whether I want to end up working in CA or WA. Both are highly respected in their region. Neither would be mistaken for YSH. Iowa falls in the same category.

Re: Iowa Class of 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
If your information is accurate, Iowa scholly data is really misleading. Or, as I said, their policy swerves sharply this year. It says 90% of admitted students receive some scholarship. And 25th 17K+, 50th 22K+, 75th 39K+. All these good days has passed.magicmagic wrote:I just visited Iowa last weekend, and they said they had already extended all the scholarship offers they had this year. Iowa is now a T-20 School!!!!! US-News report was leaked apparently (unofficial until they actually release it next week). Good news for us admits and with a significant scholarship I think I might finally pay my deposit.

If anyone is enrolling and looking for a roommate to share an apartment with, please PM me. I've been looking online and it seems that most one bedrooms are exorbitantly priced, especially considering it's in Iowa City. I wouldn't mind living in a place with 1-2 other people.

Anyone else pumped for August? And for Iowa being ranked in the T20? Good time to become a Hawkeye!

Recently submitted my first deposit and am excited to be attending. Anyone know if there is or will be a fb group for student planning to attend?d237 wrote:Anyone else pumped for August? And for Iowa being ranked in the T20? Good time to become a Hawkeye!
Where is everyone who is attending from? I'm from CA and a bit worried for when winter hits lol

Coming from Illinois so I'm ready for the winter. At ASD admissions said they would create a FB group for us in a few weeks- they'll send out an email to let us know.

Two bedrooms are definitely the way to go; otherwise there are some lesser expensive one bedrooms located on Benton St that are decently nice without being absurd. I'm not convinced they're all on Craigslist; try combing through google searches for "Iowa City property management companies" and limiting your results to West Iowa City to get results in the area. Of note: in certain areas of Iowa City (west of the river), occupancy is limited to 3 unrelated per zoning code. In University Heights (which is even more of a rip-off, IMHO), the limit is 2.
Another alternative is to live just south of downtown (near the undergrads) and walk from there to the law school; rent is a bit cheaper in that area.

I just withdrew my offer of admission. Hopefully my decision will help someone on the waitlist.

Just withdrew. Unfortunately that doesn't put any money back in the pot (hence the withdrawal), but hopefully someone who's still pending/waitlisted can put my spot to better use.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
