For ED, is it called "Scholar in Law" for the full scholarship?acr wrote:I was accepted ED last year so if anyone has specific questions about that I can probably help

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
Yes, but I think "Scholar in Law" comes in varying degrees. For example, my "Scholar in Law" covers my full tuition but I know other people who have a "Scholar in Law" award that covers like 20k per year. ED is Scholar in Law with full tuition.aspire2esquire wrote:For ED, is it called "Scholar in Law" for the full scholarship?acr wrote:I was accepted ED last year so if anyone has specific questions about that I can probably help

GOOD LUCK tomorrow!
Thanks! It was pretty casual. He asked me to tell him about myself, why I picked my undergrad, why I want to go to law school, and why I picked the schools that I did to apply to, what I want to do with my degree and where I would like to end up practicing. Then he just had me ask questions. He sold the school quite a bit and even said they would help my husband find a job there if I pick the school. He said that he cannot give me a definite answer but that my application and work experience is very strong and that I should hear very soon. He said he would present it this afternoon. He then told me to email him when I am ready to visit and they would help pay for airfare or the hotel.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
1L here -- initial scholarship awards are entirely dependent on your LSAT/GPA/URM status, so don't worry about your softs for that. They're quite candid about this:
"Scholar in Law Award – Scholarship here at Washington University School of Law is merit based. There
are no additional forms or applications to complete to be considered for a Scholar in Law Award. All
admitted JD applicants’ files are reviewed for these scholarships by the Scholarship Committee. The
Scholarship Committee will look at an applicant’s LSAT score and undergraduate GPA."

Though I would not be surprised if they started giving more money to women this cycle, but that's pure conjecture. The class of 2017 was man-heavy, and I would guess about 60-65% of my class is men as well.

Too small of a sample size and didn't do a statistical analysis on attire haha...splitterfromhell wrote:Did it skew more toward jeans or suits?legit wrote:Tour of the law schoolJames.K.Polk wrote:You can expect no alcohol.splitterfromhell wrote:Checking in. Wow, that's pretty awesome. I bet you're in by next week! I had the opportunity to visit two campuses this summer. As it turned out, the school I thought I wanted, I ended up hating. But my visit to WashU was just the opposite. The campus is beautiful, everyone was super helpful and I had a good time in StL.janderson821 wrote:Scalvert wrote:Got mine for Monday @ 1pm. Those numbers are more competitive than you are giving yourself credit for. Have you considered going for the Northwestern 150K ED option?yallayallamohandes wrote:Had an interview with Mr. Fruhwirth 2 hours ago.
A very nice person. He asked general questions on my experiences, my criteria for choosing law schools to apply, and my thoughts on living in St. Louis.
Since I am in Korea, I woke up around 3 AM to prepare for 4:30 AM interview. I haven't spoken any English for nearly a half year, so I ended up stuttering a lot with unclear pronunciation. Lack of sleep made it worse. Tried to go back to sleep, but cannot stop thinking about how dumb I sounded like... Sad...
Anyway, he told me that I would probably get a good news soon. I guess I will be admitted.
Hope that my jumbled speech would not have a negative impact on the amount of scholarship, if I happen to get any. If I get a full scholarship, I would probably end up attending WUSTL, unless higher ranking schools offer me a significant amount, which is unlikely considering my numbers as a splitter. 172 and 3.34. Due to my current financial status, it will be very difficult for me to pay a sticker price for any school.
Good luck to you all.
Eh. I'll respectfully disagree. Our class (2017) was 57% male, which is close to the norm for most law schools. I doubt they are terribly concerned with trying the get it to 50/50. If anything in that realm at WashU needs work, it's probably overall diversity.RareExports wrote:Though I would not be surprised if they started giving more money to women this cycle, but that's pure conjecture. Just to clarify: I'm not saying it wouldn't be great if there were more women, it would. I'm just saying that our ratio is in the normal range and I don't think being female is going to get you more money than your similarly situated male couterpart.

I hope so! I have never been to the campus or spent a ton of time in St. Louis but I look forward to visiting. I don't know where I will end up but I think the school is a really strong option.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
I logged into my status checker after being accepted, and under the new checklist options, there are check marks next to "First Deposit" and "Second Deposit" even though I have paid anything or really talked to admissions at all since. Any ideas as to why those boxes are checked off?
