Re: Northwestern c/o 2019 Applicants
So did anyone pick online interview and submit their application? It's unclear to me if we have to wait and input a date for the interview like the on-campus interviewees do. Thanks

I spoke with someone from admissions this morning, and she said that the interviewing calendar should be available within the next few days, and to check back daily.

Yeah. I wasn't a fan of the online process, so I chose an off-campus interview right by my office. We'll see how long it takes to set up.urbanist11 wrote:Can't see why there would be as long as you practice first as much as you need. Do you have any info on how often new dates go up?slippin_jimmy wrote:I'm debating just signing up for off-campus. You're going to Chicago for a marathon, right?slippin_jimmy wrote:I'm debating just signing up for off-campus. They're so close to putting up interviews for the date I need, but I'm impatient.

So I don't see any space to submit a "Why Northwestern" statement this year. Do they not want us to send one or are we supposed to submit it under the "Addendum" section instead?

Re: Northwestern c/o 2019 Applicants
I think in past years, they had two optional essays and you could choose one to do. According to the TLS wiki- "There are also two optional essays: a "Why Northwestern" essay and a diversity statement. Students can choose to write zero, one, or both. Answers should be limited to one or two paragraphs."Cocoron wrote:So I don't see any space to submit a "Why Northwestern" statement this year. Now there's just "describe an aspect of your background that you feel would allow you to contribute uniquely to the school and/or your classmates" as the one option.
So I wouldn't think they expect a "why northwestern" essay at all. Seems like something that would be covered through the interview, which is probably more effective for them. If you want to ask them, though, ask them! And keep us posted.

Yeah and only a minute for each question. I'm looking back on my answers thinking I sounded like a politician talking in generalities because they don't have enough time to really think of a good answer.slippin_jimmy wrote:Just because it's one and done?WhiteHouse wrote:Online interview is one of the most stressful things I've ever done lol

Re: Northwestern c/o 2019 Applicants
Yeah definitely. So the practice questions I got were "What's your favorite season?" and "Whats your favorite city?" Two very straightforward questions where you can pick an option and back it up with personal reasons. However, the six questions in the actual interview were much more openended and warranted more than the 30 seconds they gave to prepare. I'll try to remember all of them (the order might be off):James.K.Polk wrote:
Can you give us any more info?
1) Think of a time you were faced with a hard decision. What was the conversation going on in your head?
2)....i forget this one
3) Think of a time that someone just didn't understand what you were feeling. How would you react if you were that person?
4) How would you go about solving a difficult problem with a team?
5) What were you like 4 years ago? How are you different now?
6) Why Northwestern Law?
They give you up to a minute to answer, but you can cut it off quicker if you want. I'm hoping they have the same mentality as when they read the LSAT writing portion and just realize that these are going to be hastily answered questions that aren't polished. Although I hope this helps provide better insight. I think the questions might be picked from a pool of questions, so don't take these as the only ones.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
