Re: Santa Clara School of Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014/2015)
Thank you for replying to my post.
After masters in Engineering, it felt like law is the right option for me after working with couple patent lawyers in my company. I looked into MBA but it is like a common sense degree unless you get it from top schools and Phd doesn't seem that exciting. It puts me in that boring research mode for few years and who knows if It will even change what I currently do at my work.
I haven't worked in law firm or as patent agent before. So, it is new for me. So, I didn't want to completely leave engineering and start law school. The P/T program kind of gives me that nice transition and option to go back as engineer if I didn't like it.
I applied to GW/Georgetown, I am on waiting list on both of them. GW P/T would be ideal choice for me but seems like it is not happening. Santa Clara seems very attractive due to the area. So, I am going to pay my deposit for now and lets see. I agree with you - after all, it is not the school that matters, it is your passion and hard work. I have cousins who went to Berkeley and U of Chicago law schools, so initially I felt embarrassing just to tell them that I may join Santa Clara but I do feel better about Santa Clara after reading online.

Also had question on P/T first semester. How many classes do I have to take? Can I just start with taking two classes? Or I have to take three classes and complete 21 units by end of first semester?

Your classes are set your first year even as a PT student. You complete 21 units by the end of your first year. http://law.scu.edu/admissions/part-time ... -of-study/siddhishah wrote:Also had question on P/T first semester. Accepted back in February, got the Emory Merit Scholarship, Bay Area native. Just found this thread so I thought I'd throw in.
Have accepted the offer since the deadline was today but I'm still waiting on a few more decisions and have been waitlisted at a couple of places. I can answer questions about the area as well

Hoping to hear on my late submission as I have been in review for over a month... Anyone have an idea or know if they are still admitting, wait listing, etc?

I'm sure they will add more if/when spots open up. The deadline was yesterday to accept, so with a few last-minute acceptances and the declines/no answers, I would predict there will be some spots open.JD Walters wrote:I'm still waiting tooctkingsley wrote:Hoping to hear on my late submission as I have been in review for over a month... My coworker is extremely talented and is currently at SCU. She got into a bunch of T14 schools (including Columbia with significant scholarship aid) but chose to do the part-time at SCU so she could continue working with our patent firm. I'm not saying everyone at SCU is like that, but if you want to do part-time and you want to be in silicon valley, SCU is the place to do it.siddhishah wrote:Thank you for replying to my post.

Does anyone know if there is a form or anything to fill out if you want to defer?

Hastings upped their offer after the deadline, so I just withdrew from SCU. Another 105K going back into the pot today, so I hope one of y'all get some good news soon.

Received the waitlist email yesterday. Anyone have any success stories on how to get off and on to full acceptance?

I'm in the same boat as you. Received the waitlist email on 5/5 and submitted the Waitlist Confirmation Form that same night. I'm not sure if I should be just waiting and not bothering the admission committee or instead contacting them with letter(s) of continued interest.ctkingsley wrote:Received the waitlist email yesterday.
