Got my acceptance in the mail yesterday after applying in early January. I got a hefty scholarship and the personalized message from the dean was a nice touch. Anyone thinking of going to the admitted students event at the end of March?

Emory places in New York and in some cases California, we do get Spring OCI from Firms in South and Central Florida and a lot of students get jobs there. Some students end up in DC as well. This information is from friends who have landed gigs, not from actual stats.sweenale wrote:What are job prospects like outside of the south?LSATobsessed wrote:a lot of you guys who are DMing me questions, just post them here, so I can answer them publicly so everyone can see.

if you go to emory, it is very easy to create connections here, and create that tie to the city, many networking opportunities. Attending law school in Atlanta definitely shows that you are interested in working here in the future. Many firms in Atlanta take Emory students without ties as well.LawsRUs wrote:how easy or difficult is it to break into atlanta wthout ties?LSATobsessed wrote:a lot of you guys who are DMing me questions, just post them here, so I can answer them publicly so everyone can see.

From what I've heard, relatively difficult. Very competitive. I'm almost done with 1L year so I haven't had the chance to do the write on yet, but from what others have told me, it is hard, but not impossible.

Emory alum here. I kind of agree, but I think this oversimplifies things a bit. I am not from the South, and I had a much easier time at the OCI in NY than the one in Atlanta. And people with slightly lower grades but ties to the South did much better with Atlanta firms. However, outside of OCI it didn't seem like a huge issue. I was a PD gunner (mostly did OCI for the experience, but also for the PD/PI interviews), and me not being from here was never an issue after I gave my reasons for wanting to stay. Same goes with my friends at smaller firms and jobs they got through networking.LSATobsessed wrote:if you go to emory, it is very easy to create connections here, and create that tie to the city, many networking opportunities. Accepted $$$
I applied at the end of Jan, and received the acceptance letter+packet in the mail Feb13th.
Is anyone familiar with the terms/stipulations that come with the scholarship offer? Specifically regarding your 1L class standing?

Be in good standing. Which is like a C average, which basically means as long as you continue to show up you'll keep it.fescriptonchild wrote: Is anyone familiar with the terms/stipulations that come with the scholarship offer? Specifically regarding your 1L class standing?

To those who received decisions, how long was it between when you received your under review email and your decision mail? Thank you

Is anyone going to ASW? I saw on the website that they will pay for hotel, but when you got through the links, there is still a total at check out? Not sure if they mean that we do it through the hotel website and then get reimbursed or....

You'll get an email with the official letter as an attachment. I actually received a decision (accepted w/ scholly) within a month, though that doesn't necessarily mean anything for your situation.bluesandgreens wrote:is anyone living abroad? on the website they said they sometimes send admission decisions via email to those out of the country. Unless you're an international student, I can't think of a reason why you didn't receive the packet. My acceptance packet was sent through overnight shipping (and I live in the upper north-east), so I would expect the same for other out-of-state applicants. Try emailing or calling Dean Rosenzweig directly... he's been pretty diligent and helpful while responding to my questionsOhBoyOhBortles wrote:Just got an email saying, "congratulations again on your acceptance "...but I never got the acceptance letter. Should I keep waiting, or call the admissions office and ask them to resend? Wouldn't be concerned normally, except the scholarship offers are in that initial packet, right?

I know that people have stated receiving their packages FedEx, but did anyone receive theirs certified mail? I was away for the weekend, and got notification that USPS attempted to deliver a letter that way. Thanks!
