Seriously. Doing apps sucks so much time out of the day. I'm waiting on the Columbia waiver too. Do you know if we can expect the first wave to come out sometime this month? I really just want to submit the thing.w0w wrote:I know! I still have NYU and harvard to do this week and I'm waiting on a fee waiver from columbia. Then its just yale and i'm done!! I have no clue when it is supposed to come out. But seriously I did not realize how much time these things would take. Mostly what took forever was finding little errors and going back and fixing it on every single application. At least now I won't have to deal with that because I only have a few left.

Guys, by far the most stressed out 1Ls I know go to SLS. It's really messing with my head.

I don't know any 1Ls but I've heard in the past that Chicago is pretty bad...everything_bagel wrote:Guys, by far the most stressed out 1Ls I know go to SLS. It's really messing with my head.

Quarter system means more exams means more stress, I do believe.

Does it, though? 1Ls start much earlier than the rest of the school--just a week later than Cal--and have three shots at 1L exams. But someone told me SLS 1Ls take 5 classes so maybe that's the issue.MidwestLifer wrote:Quarter system means more exams means more stress, I do believe.
Point taken otherwise though. I just think it's kinda interesting because it belies Stanford's reputation a lil bit. I'm curious about the Chicago thing. It's a major turnoff but I <3 SLS otherwise so hopefully these dudes are just weirdos.
also hopefully they take a chance on admitting me and whatnot obviously

Re: Stanford Law School c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
it's hard not to get stressed out during 1L because there are five classes and you're working hard to learn new things. But you needn't let it stress you out too much — easier said than done, of course but talk to most 2L/3Ls and they'll tell you the stress was pretty pointless. Also, there is very little sense that we are competing "against" one another — most of us are working hard because we just want to do the best we can, as opposed to beating our classmates.
Really, best thing to do is punt a class or maybe two and make sure you stay healthy. By second quarter, you start taking electives, and by third quarter it's all electives before your first year is done. The stress fades into the past (though of course we find other things to get stressed out about.)

Yeah - I emailed them and I think it had something to do with my cookies - had no problem on my phone.

Certain links work better than others hah. Try going through https://www.law.stanford.edu/degrees/jd/jd_application and clicking the status application checker or whatever on the left side.w0w wrote:Anyone having trouble logging into the status checker? This is what it says on the "what to expect when your expecting" thread:
Stanford:
Incomplete
Submitted for Review
Shouldn’t take more than a few days
No date changes
Acceptances: Phone
Area Code: 650
Last year, if your status changed to "decision letter sent" and you hadn't received a phone call or email, you had been waitlisted/dinged.

Checked my status checker today, and it says "Your file has been submitted for review." I'm surprised to see it submitted for review so quickly.
Edit - Just realized someone said theirs was under review on 9/3. Guess I shouldnt be so surprised...
