Re: NYU c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
I actually lived with my girlfriend @ Mercer for several months when she was an NYU 3L, and I can't compare it to anything else in terms of student housing, but we really liked it. Clean and spacious, and it was nice to be able to walk outside and have a grocery store and a Starbucks seconds away. Even though the store, and get used to this is you're not from NYC, is really &%$#ing expensive.

Hey guys --
I submitted 8 applications on October 25th (9 days ago from today) and I have gone complete or at least been acknowledged at all the schools except NYU. Not even a peep -- should I be worried?

I submitted on 10/31 and got an email saying that they had received my application on 11/1. Haven't gone complete, but I have access to the status checker. Have you checked your spam filter for the 'application received' email?twitterati wrote:Hey guys --

Yea, I've been looking carefully for it since I thought it was weird that I never received the status checker notification.

I would double check on LSAC to make sure that the application has been submitted, and then email NYU admissions to ask if they have received it.twitterati wrote:Yea, I've been looking carefully for it since I thought it was weird that I never received the status checker notification.

Yeah I think something went wrong. I was acknowledged the day I submitted and my app went complete the next day.twitterati wrote:Hey guys --

Re: NYU c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
Called NYU and they said my application was showing as complete. Couldn't explain why the status checker never got there but it does make me think it could have something to do with the "Dear ##FIRSTNAME" fee waivers from NYU that went out last month
Thanks for the help!

Guys - do I have to submit my essays for scholarship programs with my app? I am on the fence about the IILJ and Furman Academic Scholars. I do want to apply to NYU ASAP. At this moment, I cannot write essays for these programs with full conviction.

Yes, you have to submit the essays with the app (and submit everything before Jan 1). Best of luck!!Seoulless wrote:Guys - do I have to submit my essays for scholarship programs with my app? What does it say when you are UR1 or UR2? Does the text change from 'Application under review' or is it just a date change for 'Current Status Date:'?

I mean, I believe that's what it says for all of us; "UR2" is just a shorthand way of saying the status date changed (to today). Which presumably doesn't mean anything beyond that the file moved to someone else's desk or something.ChemEng1642 wrote:

Any Root or other named scholly applicants decide not to write a separate public service essay? I'd love to know your thoughts/reasoning (by PM if you prefer). Waging a war with my lazy af self...

I don't have anyone to vouch for my commitment to the public interest so I didn't bother applying for any of the public interest scholarships unfortunatelyeverything_bagel wrote:Any Root or other named scholly applicants decide not to write a separate public service essay? I'd say your work on TLS demonstrates a strong commitment to the public interest. Just send in a compilation of your greatest hits from the waiters thread and the PS forum.hereisonehand wrote:I don't have anyone to vouch for my commitment to the public interest so I didn't bother applying for any of the public interest scholarships unfortunatelyeverything_bagel wrote:Any Root or other named scholly applicants decide not to write a separate public service essay?
