Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
I used the last two years of spreadsheets here on TLS to look at the stats of people who ED, also I used mysln.info and searched ED there as well. It isn't a ton of data, but it could provide some extra info.luuma wrote:I was held last year and I'm applying ED this month, with my interview the second week of November sadly... (because it's Veteran's day long weekend so I have off from work!). Does anyone have any stats for their ED applicants? How are the prospects generally?

Nice catch, sorry about that. I went back and changed the years, the numbers are pretty close.rebexness wrote:Did NU do the full scholly 3 years ago?czpczp wrote:People accepted ED in last 3 cycles:

Just submitted my application. Good luck, everyone! Hope we'll be awkwardly staring at each other wondering about TLS alter-egos come August.

I think that was a decently more competitive cycle than the last/current one though, so I'm not sure how much that years NU ED numbers will be worth for this year's applicants.

Just had my Northwestern interview. It was largely an unstructured conversation with a current 3L. Super helpful to learn more about the school and he was very nice.

Huh- didn't realize they had students doing interviews. Do you know how common that is (for NU)?lc39 wrote:Just had my Northwestern interview. It was largely an unstructured conversation with a current 3L. Super helpful to learn more about the school and he was very nice.

I have mine tomorrow. I don't know if I'm hoping for something like this, or hoping for someone with more direct decision-making power. I'm pretty prepared, I think, so even though a student interview might be more relaxed, I kind of just want to connect to whoever has the most juice. I could be looking at that entirely the wrong way, I don't even know.lc39 wrote:Just had my Northwestern interview. It was largely an unstructured conversation with a current 3L. The guy I spoke to said I was his first Skype interview. I know some people who had interviews earlier had ones that were much more structured than mine (with staff rather than students I think). So I'm not sure.suppy183 wrote:

I prepared a lot and was kind of caught off-guard by the casual feel of our conversation. I don't think the NU interview matters much in the grand scheme of the application so I'm perfectly happy with it being low-stress.NimChimpsky wrote:

Had my interview today. I feel like it went really well. Be prepared to answer questions about your work history, and be prepared to ask questions.

Does anyone know if they give any weight or consideration to work in undergrad? I'm basically kjd but I worked 30hour work weeks throughout undergrad. I listed them on my resume but I wonder if they will bring it up.WichitaShocker wrote:Had my interview today. I feel like it went really well. I think it depends on the job- I've worked full-time for the government through UG and they brought that up in the interview. Didn't mention some of the other "college kid" jobs (like tooling around as a lifeguard)czpczp wrote:Does anyone know if they give any weight or consideration to work in undergrad? Just did my interview. It was also with a 3L, and as such, pretty casual. There were questions about my work history, about my favorite UG classes, and about why NW. It was only about a half hour or so, and worthwhile, I'd say. Who knows how much impact it will have, but it couldn't hurt, I suppose.

Via Skype. I wonder if the preponderance of student-conducted interviews just follows a higher-than-usual number of applications? I dunno.rebexness wrote:Was this an in-person interview or via Skype?NimChimpsky wrote:Just did my interview. It was also with a 3L, and as such, pretty casual. Is the application status page, um...blank for anyone else? After my interview, I checked it, and it had changed my application status to complete. Now when I go there, there is absolutely no information at all, including my name. Nothing. If this is a ding, it feels kind of harsh.

That's reassuring, but since I'm in the middle of applying to law schools, I'm going to go ahead and choose to believe the worst. That's who I am now.
