Just got another update.

I guess I didn't realize they'd be doing WEEKLY updates and actually mean updates each week.

I guess that's better than not hearing from them?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm actually impressed that they would take the time to update us. I don't think I've gotten many updates for the other schools that I've waitlisted at, so it's refreshing and appreciated by me. I guess you can read it in several ways, but to me it suggests that they do care enough about those of us on the waitlist to try to give us some kind of indication. It's considerate of them in my opinion. Well done, UVA.

I agree. I was just surprised. Also my heart skips just a little every time I see an e-mail from 'UVA Law" but that's my problem not theirs.

I applied late, I showed an incredible lack of interest. If I wait out the waitlist and get rejected, then I am not getting in next year even if I apply on day one, right?

I'm confused...you showed a lack of interest? You could probably increase your chance next year by showing interest....Also by making some improvements to your app--there might be something.

In my initial app yes. I sent in a LOCI though.

don't see why showing interest the second time around would not correct this...its a practical issue of them wanting a high yield rate, not a moral condemnation of your character. unlikely that they keep a record of candidates blackballed for showing little interest...maybe one for people they identify as making anti-UVA comments on TLS, though. you're being paranoid.

plenty of people on tls have reported a more successful cycle the second time through, particularly those who applied on the later side the first time around. rejection -or "release," if you'd prefer -from a waitlist, ultimately, is what happens to the majority of people placed on waitlists. that doesn't take away from the fact that you were waitlisted - that they put you aside because ultimately, they saw something they really liked. you just acknowledged that you didn't do anything extra for uva - that probably contributed, esp if you are out-of-state. i would think if you re-applied, super early, and expressed interest in uva, you would stand a better shot.

schools definitely don't hold your first decision against you. in fact, i can see how they would respect someone's determination to try again.

Congrats. Have reverse splitters been getting a lot of love on T14 waitlists lately? Maybe it's just anecdotal, but it seems that way. Might not be good news for some of us though...

But thank you for at least showing that there has been movement on the waitlist. If I remember correctly the recent update suggested they did not anticipate waitlist activity, so I'm kind of skeptical...
