This seems to be pretty common for CU; higher scholarship for 1L and lower amounts once you qualify for in-state tuition.ManoftheHour wrote:Just received scholly $$$. Full ride for the first year and some assistance for the remaining years. That's kind of weird. Usually schools space out the $$$ evenly throughout the three years, but at least there are no sTTTTips on this scholarship.

I believe it's because you get in-state for 2/3L. Congrats.ManoftheHour wrote:Just received scholly $$$. Full ride for the first year and some assistance for the remaining years. Congrats everybody.
Yeah they give you the most 1L but if you think about it that is a good thing regardless of the automatic in-state classification for 2L and 3L. Dat compound interest.

it is also because of as already discussed in this thread (a) additional scholarships available after 1L and (b) risk minimization - if you drop out, it is most likely after 1l

I'd rather just be solidly UR for 2 months than have changes of a date with just "complete" over and over.Cal Trask wrote:Solid non-update.Attax wrote:Still in review as of 12/3
Or even worse, USC! I went from Under Committee Review 2 back to Under Committee Review 1 with a previous date!

USC is the worst. I waited three months last year for them to reject me.Attax wrote:I'd rather just be solidly UR for 2 months than have changes of a date with just "complete" over and over.Cal Trask wrote:Solid non-update.Attax wrote:Still in review as of 12/3

To add to this non-update, I'm still in review from 11/13. I've called a couple times within the last month and every time they've said, "We should have your decision by the end of the week." So they've basically lost my confidence...

Admissions at small schools like CU is weird, usually because it is just one or two people doing the whole thing. Also they actually read your whole application.. I remember getting rejected from UT by a computer at 2:35 in the morning.AndiDail wrote:

For those of you who got in, when did you find out about scholarship info? I got in Monday and they said they'd be sending out scholarship information soon, I'm anxious to see what they come up with since CU is likely my top choice.

Does anybody know if Colorado offers any travel stipends for open house visits?

With the amount of people who would abuse that to come on a ski trip, I doubt it.csargean wrote:Does anybody know if Colorado offers any travel stipends for open house visits?

Well, got my packet in the mail and didn't include anything about scholarships. I'm kind of bummed because Ohio State gave me $13k a year (and I'm in state) and Denver gave me $28k a year. CU was probably my top choice. Oh well.

Yeah so CU is like 60-70k more than OSU? You would have to really want to work in Colorado. And then be ok with paying too much money for the privilege.bswann22 wrote:Well, got my packet in the mail and didn't include anything about scholarships. Unless you are 100% public interest / loan forgiveness route then enjoy Ohio.

I had all my applications in to my schools by the end of October and I have heard back from all of them but Colorado. Application has been in review since 11/4. I am getting tired of excitedly checking my email every day for no reason. Good to see that I'm not the only one out there that has been waiting this long!

That's beyond ridiculous. I applied last week and we'll probably get our decisions around the same time in March/April.

Re: University of Colorado c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
Just withdrew my application. I've had a pretty good cycle thus far and couldn't see myself going to CU (based on the acceptances I've gotten), so no point in them deliberating over mine any longer.
I applied on day 1 the application opened and have been under review since 4 Nov.
PS-not positive I would've withdrawn if they had an ASW with a $500 reimbursement...I'm a horrible, horrible person.
*Edited to provide a bit more clarity

A fellow Spurs fan! I've been under review at CU since 11/4 and am frustrated as well. I emailed at the first of the year inquiring about when I might hear back and they said they were "hopeful I would hear by the end of the week." Well, that was 4+ weeks ago...Soco Law wrote:Just withdrew my application.
