Is reference to Chicago as "Chicago Law School" in my diversity statement considered acceptable or should I spell it out "The University of Chicago Law School" ?

I would say "The University of Chicago Law School" that is perfectly acceptable.

After you have introduced it, I would call it "The Law School" (Which is what the faculty/alums call it)

If admitted, you will be assigned a mentor (from the following list of people) who will help you find a business-related 1L summer internship, and then they remain your mentor throughout the rest of your time at the law school.

It might not be the thing for those of your who want to become public defenders or animal rights advocates, but it appears to be a pretty legit-looking program if you are interested in business.

Any info on how students are selected?

I'm not sure if they'll change things in the upcoming years, but this year they simply conducted really informal interviews where they pretty much just told applicants about the program. The school has brought over a super cool MBA grad who specializes in this sort of thing to do the interviews and run the program; based on her feedback, Professor Baird and some of the other faculty / people associated with the program will review the applications (resume + short (250-word) statement of interest) and decide who gets to participate. Applications opened on October 2nd and closed on October 14th, so this year was pretty hectic, but even then a ton of 1Ls apparently applied.

I think they're shooting for 15 people a year in the program, but this first year they're only taking 5 or so, and about 50 people applied for it. ...

Also, Mr. Doctoroff donated $5 million to the law school to create this program, which will bring a ton of top business-school teachers over to teach business-specific classes to law school students whether they're accepted into the program or not. Even so, the real benefit of being admitted to the program is (obviously) the fact that you get one of the aforementioned people as your personal mentor for 3 years.

Program sounds awesome. Really loving everything I'm hearing about Chicago.
