I'm already registered to go to UGA's that same day, but as I live in Georgia, maybe I should just visit on my own and take advantage of the earlier option for Illinois. Kind of weird that they would do that though.hhockberger wrote:+1fragrock wrote:Illinois just sent me an email with the dates of their ASW options. I'm want to visit because I'm interested, but I don't expect to be able to make a decision that day!
Probably going to 4/5 for that reason.

Whenever you do decide to visit, despite what you may have heard, don't go drinking at Kam's. You'll see things you can't unsee and you'll ruin whatever shoes you're wearing.fragrock wrote:I'm already registered to go to UGA's that same day, but as I live in Georgia, maybe I should just visit on my own and take advantage of the earlier option for Illinois. Did anybody else get the email with an invitation to apply for a full scholarship?

Yep. Neither of the scholarships apply to me, so I think they sent it to everyone.Princess Consuela wrote:Did anybody else get the email with an invitation to apply for a full scholarship?

Yep.
1. Went to a private college.
2. Not interested in public service.
Damn. Neither are a possibility for me.

Only the public university one applies to me, but I don't have a clue what I'd say about what my public education has "meant to me". Wut.
Eta: For the chance of getting another $55,000 though.. I guess I should write the damn essay.

I think I'll go ahead and apply for the first one. They've already been generous so far, and the application isn't too intense. I'm not sure what is meant by a "short" essay though.

Re: UIUC Class of 2016
Two questions about these scholarships...
1. How long should these "short essays" be in comparison to say, a personal statement?
2. On a similar note, my personal statement already almost exactly answers the public service scholarship prompt. Thoughts about submitting a slightly altered, but extremely relevant personal statement in a situation like this?

It's been way better since they raised the age to 21. The smell has only dissipated slightly, however.AMilfordMan wrote:

Lol just realized that email that the Women's Law Society sent to (i assume) all admitted students doesn't hide the email addresses of the recipients and definitely outs some TLSers. Whoops

Lurker here (didn't apply to UIUC), but FWIW my friends that did get admitted into UIUC got their scholarship notifications with their admission decision. I think it was expressed as a percentage discount as opposed to a dollar amountmosquito wrote:Hi all, when did you guys get your scholarship decisions? Re: UIUC Class of 2016
Does anyone know the email for the admissions office? I need to email an update to my file. I found individual emails (Dean of Admissions, Associate Dean, etc.) but I wasn't sure if that would be appropriate. Appreciate the help!
