Also, apparently the UG is pretty bad. I haven't ever had issues, though some things could be more efficient.
I think I'm in
DLS
ASW had me change my PW when I tried to log in and it sent me to some sort of admitted student page.
No congratulations anywhere though

Not sure why they wouldn't just call everyone at once, but it seems like the ASW is a giveaway. Congrats all! What an unbelievable surprise, after the 3 month wait to go from application under review ---> WL I was pretty sure I had no shot.

Jam, I just got a call from NYU. They said they're a little unsure after interviewing you, and want you to hold tight for now.JamMasterJ wrote:yeah, I still haven't heard.NJPitcher wrote:Not sure why they wouldn't just call everyone at once, but it seems like the ASW is a giveaway. I think someone earlier in the thread said there's no more scholly, but need based aid is still available. I asked on the phone and was told that it might be a couple days for fin aid info to be available assuming you've already submitted needaccess etc.

Got the call today! Is there anything we need to do to hear about finaid aside from FAFSA and NeedAccess?

Re: NYU Waitlist Class of 2015
I also got the interest call a few weeks ago. My call was on a Monday, but I missed it and returned the call Tuesday morning. At some point that day I went DLS and by 12pm on Wednesday I was accepted (voicemail -- I'm terrible with answering my phone apparently). I got the snail mail acceptance the following Monday.
I had my doubts, too, but I think it was more along the "too good to be true" vein.
Congrats everyone!

Is there this much WL movement from NYU every year or more this year? Asking in relation to the drop in test takers, becuase folks have been saying there will be more WL movement this year.

This was certainly my theory. But I can't comment beyond NYU since I haven't paid attention to any other schools this cycle.jim-green wrote:Is there this much WL movement from NYU every year or more this year? Well, Columbia's WL didn't move at all in past few years but it has moved this year and continues to move, and is expected to keep moving (especially with Harvard's WL just starting to move, and it seems there is a lot of movement there)

UVA has had no WL movement. IDK what they're normally like, but I can tell you that I get their emails every week discussing how they let nobody in. Hah.

That's because UVA only admits people that ED. The uncertainty of matriculation is dramatically decreased.NJPitcher wrote:UVA has had no WL movement. IDK what they're normally like, but I can tell you that I get their emails every week discussing how they let nobody in. Hah.

Got the call after I had started working. This is gonna be a tough decision. My fiancee is pretty excited about Chicago, but the idea of moving to NY really freaks her out. I told her she has ultimate veto power WRT CLS and NYU, so I guess we'll just see how it goes.

I think she thinks of NY as major culture shock, while Chicago is only slightly culture shock-esque. We're from suburban midwest, so it's basically choosing between a place that's somewhat different from what we are accustomed to a place that's significantly different. That and the fact that Chi is 3.5 hours from family while NY is 11 hours away. I don't completely understand the culture thing, but I think she feels NY is full of people that are different than what we're used to while Chicago is at least a midwestern town at heart.

Haha, I thought you were from downtown Chi, the way you kept talking about Chi. If we did not have a kid, I would not have withdrawn from CLS and NYU. I would have loved going to NYC, but with a kid, I chose Cal. Just feeling a twinge of regret now I did not stay on the WLs, but NYC rents were too much when I talked with folks. If I remember, it was birdlaw and a couple of others who convinced me a month ago that as an EE with a lot of WE, Cal was the best for me.JamMasterJ wrote:haha Thanks.I think sh ... not from Chi, but both of us have been there a million times. It's really close to home. I'm getting told that the cities aren't as dissimilar as we thought. Any truth to that?jim-green wrote:Haha, I thought you were from downtown Chi, the way you kept talking about Chi. If we did not have a kid, I would not have withdrawn from CLS and NYU. Well, coming from a guy who is from a small suburban Midwestern town that moved out here with his girlfriend, who was very hesitant about NYC, I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else. And she loves it too.JamMasterJ wrote:
