nevermind.

just got the "it looks like there will be a very small handful of openings in the class" e-mail asking me to confirm my interest level. came from my designated SPWL contact, Erica.

[for the record, i hope "a very small handful" = enough spaces to cover everyone on this thread. we deserve it, damnit, for all our obsessing :) ]

it also included this, at the very end: "Thank you again for your continued interest in Georgetown and, once
we hear from you, we will be back in touch with news."

did other people get that line as well? and do we now think we're going to get decisions, likeokaymaybesoon?

all right, gonna go throw up now...
If you don't mind me asking, when did you send your last LOCI or indication of interest? I sent one yesterday, so I'm hoping that is why I did not get that email. Otherwise, it's because they're just not that into me.
sure, no problem... I sent a really brief LOCI/thankyou right after the group interview on 4/27. also did the same in response to the 4/13 "Waitlist Touching Base" email. back in february, i sent in a supplemental LOR and a "why georgetown" essay. i got confirmations from my SPWL contact when they received those, but never any replies to the April emails.

seems like they are going to decide something soon, so you might be right-- if you had already responded, perhaps they'll pass on sending an email. but who knows...

this is like a bad mystery novel. wrapped in an enigma. cloaked in ambiguous emails.

Tentative congrats to people who are being probed and hinted at via email! This looks like a little wave of WL activity. Hope it's more like a tide than a wave though. Keep it coming, Andy.

Yep - got an e-mail towards the end of the day yesterday asking if I was still interested. I e-mailed back with a yes and a short explanation for why I wanted to attend. I had not sent a LOCI before this.

Been a longtime lurker but I thought it would help you guys gauge what the waitlist movement is like.

SPWL (from alumni interview back in March) - got subtle email from Dean Cornblatt (i believe i am in)

Splitter - below 25% gpa/above 75% lsat -- non-URM

Had a few emails since the first waitlist decision email gauging my interest (like most of the people here). Got an email from Alison Spada yesterday asking me for another interest email.

Got the subtle email like 1 hour ago.

Oh, and I, like many of you, responded to each email they had sent with a short "i will attend if accepted."

Good luck to you guys. I wish you all the very best!

----
[edit] i feel kind of embarrassed to post this. ill remove it at the end of the day. hopefully it helped you guys kind of figure out this whole "process" --- believe me, i know i have been lurking to try and figure things out myself so I thought it might be of some help. good luck to you all!

Hi Flounce, quick question... Did you receive the "special handful" email a few weeks back or very recently? I received one a few weeks ago but did not hear anything in the last couple of days.

Got the email about a very small handful yesterday and promptly responded with a brief statement that I would attend if accepted. Applied in Dec ED, and was WL a few days before Christmas. Visited in March and sent an LOCI about a week ago. Accepted today.

And I would call the email a little more than "subtle" since Andy jokes in it about how it's not subtle and discusses when the seat deposit is due.
Arrg, maybe i should've said "I'll drop all and go" but it really does depend on financial aid at this point...oh well, haha

First off, a well due congratulations to those who have gotten accepted off of the waitlists!

Secondly, I'm not sure if I'm trying to dig too deeply into matters, but it seems like all the people accepted in thus far have LSAT scores above 170; moreover, according to hearsay and rumors, last year the only people that were accepted off of the lists had scores above 170. Is it fair to say that we're probably looking at the trend happening again this cycle? If so, why would GULC extend waitlist spots to people that didn't have scores above 170?

Gah. I'm over-analyzing things, even though I said I wouldn't.

+1. It looks like they're taking plenty of splitters too. But no reverse splitters. Where is the love for reverse splitters? Four years of coursework ought to count for something.

ugh. agreed.

and, samesies on the analyzing/overworrying front.

but, maybe things will be different this cycle. seems like a lot of people got the offer within 24 hours of the interest-gauging email. if the same happens for me tomorrow, i will proudly declare victory on behalf of all reverse splitters everywhere.

if not, well...my hopes won't be completely dashed, just highly damaged.

meh.

I was just admitted from the SPWL with a 169 so I don't think 170 is the magic cutoff. Feel free to PM me for more info.

On the regular waitlist, didn't independently send a LOCI (but did promptly reply to any queries about CI - though did not say I would definitely go).

Around the middle for stats, applied on the deadline, not URM.

Got the email this morning from "Andy"!!

Depends on money for me. Does anyone know if we see that once we get into the admitted students site? Or is that the +4 days thing referenced in the email?

If you're looking for need based loans and/or grants you'll have to complete the FAFSA, NeedAccess application (grants), and Yellow Form. Then they'll calculate an award. The Yellow Form is the 4 days thing--it requires a unique Georgetown ID that you haven't been assigned yet. The rest you can get started on immediately.

If you're looking for a merit scholarship...we're on the waitlist...

Thanks, after some awkward navigating I came to that same conclusion.

So...do we actually end up with any time to see financial aid before we have to decide whether or not we want to hand over $400?

I doubt it. At least that seems to be the way it works with other schools.

it seems that everyone who has been admitted off of the waitlist have received interest-probing e-mails. if we haven't received anything like that, is it safe to say that it is probably a no, or at least a no for now until the first round of waitlist admits respond?

Blarg, I've been "probed" but have yet to get anything out of it...must be that before they throw your name into the committee they make sure you're still interested?
