:-D we need to set up a TLS meetup for all of us!

It looks like student housing is just for Thursday. Anyone looking to do a hotel Friday night? Recommendations?

I also need a hotel for Friday night. I want to spend Saturday in DC and maybe look at some housing options. I went to DC once about 6 years ago so I can't remember where I stayed...Do any current students have hotel suggestions for us?

I just RSVPed. I was hoping to hang around for Friday night too. Is the student hosting program guaranteed if you RSVP, or do they have to let you know? Want to make sure I don't need to make reservations.

The Beacon hotel is excellent and only $89 for next Friday night. I can highly recommend it. It's very close to everything as well.

Sorry to break up the ASW convo again, but I've got more?'s for those current students. Feel free to post around me  or ignore me

I'm skeptical about a lot of standard TLS doctrine/perception, but I am interested to hear how current students would describe the atmosphere at GULC. Quite honestly, I don't have much to compare it to, since I didn't do a normal undergrad.

I guess what I am looking for is something like, Cornell is described as having the most studious students, Berkeley is known for being laid back, Y & H is known for being cut-throat. I wouldnt personally beleieve any of those to be true until I had began to hear it in large quantity from those who arent just applicants. Some before have mentioned that clinics are in short supply, but that seems in direct contrast with being rated #1 for clinics (though I understand availability is not a single metric). Others have mentioned career services not being personable or available. So yeah, anything you have to offer on the "culture" of GULC would be great. Since I can't make it to the early ASW due to the wife departing shortly for Afghanistan, I must wait until March.

Thanks

I saw the Beacon on Expedia. I think I'm going to go ahead and book it. I look forward to meeting all of you! Anyone going to the ASW that would like to meet up beforehand, just send me a PM and we'll figure something out.

Can someone suggest a designated bar for people to meet at?

Mad Hatter is on the red line but not close to GULC. Irish Times is just a block away from campus, so that's what I'd suggest.

I'm really not happy there's no travel subsidy, even a means-tested one. Are Michigan and GULC the only T14's who don't offer them? Trying to plan all the trips I am going to have to make, and I decided to use my miles for this instead of paying over $300.

Here's another hotel, only $70 a night. Haven't stayed there though so I can't vouch for it.

I'm still trying to figure out what time I'll be getting there, but I did have a question: is there any sort of confirmation after your RSVP for the reception? I haven't gotten anything about it (actually, I haven't gotten anything official, no e-mail or letter or anything other than being able to log in to the website).

I got an e-mail confirmation. You should probably check your spam or e-mail the office to reconfirm.

YES. Kelly's is so much fun. And has beer pong/flip cup in the basement on Tuesdays . Lots of free drinks that way this summer.

And they have delicious corned beef.

We will definitely need to plan a Kelly's visit for March ASW as well!

Sorry about the bad formatting above, but here's the fresh Yelp link for those planning on hanging out at Kelly's before ASW on Thursday 1/26.

Either one of you works for me :p

Cali, where in California are you coming from? I'm also going to be carrying a huge suitcase because 30/40 degrees for me does NOT mean a light coat. That's like igloo weather!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
