Not sending in any targeted LORs, and my PS wont have anything Stanford-specific in it. Waiting to submit until I get my October LSAT score...

To those of you who submitted/will submit a targeted LOR, who did you get it from? Professor who went to Stanford, went to Stanford Law, employer who went there, etc?

I sent targeted LORs and my writers weren't affiliated with Stanford.jim-green wrote:.

So what can non-Stanford alumni say in their letter to target it to Stanford?

I assumed non-Stanford alumni/professors/etc recommenders can still talk about how you'd be a good fit at Stanford. I'm pretty sure that's the route mine took, anyways.

Thanks, are you an applicant this cycle, or an SLS 1L?tamereth wrote:I assumed non-Stanford alumni/professors/etc recommenders can still talk about how you'd be a good fit at Stanford. I'm pretty sure that's the route mine took, anyways.

I'm applying this year, so it's possible what I did for my application isn't the best route...
On a side note, I sent my Dean's Certification form to my school much earlier than when I applied. I got the status checker today (finally!) and it's showing that I'm missing the form. Did anyone else send their form in early? Does it take a while regardless to have the form matched to your file?

I also sent mine way in advance of the rest of my file (like a month), but I just got my status checker and it says it's complete. So you should probably follow up with stanford/your dean. that's so frustrating though!tamereth wrote:I'm applying this year, so it's possible what I did for my application isn't the best route...

I sent mine in mid-summer. It was on complete when I got the status checker over a month ago. No delay.tamereth wrote:I'm applying this year, so it's possible what I did for my application isn't the best route...

Got the status checker and it says my file has been submitted for review with a status date of 10/17. Surprising because I only applied on the 13th.

Eeek. That extra form.
And so hard to get waiver.

Still want to go though.

Whenever I go in to the Dean's Suite, the lady who handles these types of forms is either 1. at lunch, 2. in a meeting, 3. "She's supposed to be here soon" (I waited 40 minutes, and finally left my number and a message. No call back.) Gah!

Quicker turn around than I expected... Sent in 10/23 and submitted for review 10/26.

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I'm assuming that you are talking about the fee waiver for applying? A couple people have mentioned frustration about having to pay over $100 to apply to HYS (or others for which you don't have a waiver). I'm sure you realize how expensive law school is, butCosmopolitanist wrote: And so hard to get waiver.
Disregarding financial aid, you will be paying at least $225,000 for your JD. Makes the $100 seem a little less significant, eh?http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/tuition/jd/ wrote:Local transportation, clothing, recreation, and the like are more variable items, but most single students will find that they need to budget a total of at least $74,982 for the school year.

Glad you guys like the pictures! I also have to apologize...they were taken on one of rare non-cloudless days. Since getting here two months ago, it has rained 1.5 times, and has been cloudly maybe 4 or 5 days. I kid you not, every other day has been deep blue skies with 75-85 degrees during the afternoon.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
