Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hey guys, long time lurker here. Started reading top law forums 1.5 years ago while prepping for LSATs. Never posted or registered for an account until now. However, I just got accepted into UVA this afternoon (ED, sent in my application on 9/2) and thought I'd jump into the party here.
Unlike the others who seemed to have received a direct call, I got an email this morning from Cordel Faulk. It was a very short email, he just told me to call him when I had the time. When I called him in the afternoon, he gave me the good news. I'm ridiculously excited and relieved that my cycle is over. Congrats to everyone else who got accepted. See you guys next fall!
In case anyone is curious, here are my numbers: 170, 3.65, non VA resident.

Just for information purposes, I also received an email this morning from Jason Dugas, informing me to call him at my convenience. I called back and got his voicemail, and he called me an hour later and told me of my acceptance.Yeppers wrote:Hey guys, long time lurker here. Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Just curious, but does anyone know the timeline on scholarship offers from UVA? I understand we're extremely early in the cycle, but I know that UVA does give out merit scholarships for both ED and RD applicants. If in the initial call/email no mention was made of a scholarship, when might one hear about such an offer?
EDIT: Just did a search, found this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/archives ... =7&t=95756
Looks like if you're a baller and get $$$, you hear about it initially, and if not, you hear around ASW.

I don't know what mine entails yet, but my status checker under "decision letter sent" has another line that says "scholarship letter sent." I haven't received either yet, so I don't know what it means, but I'm assuming it will have some kind of scholarship offer. It seemed to be sent the day after my decision letter or entered into the system the day after.treeborn wrote:Just curious, but does anyone know the timeline on scholarship offers from UVA? ASW would make sense for the second round of $$$ decisions, because by then, people will have heard from other schools and $$$ will be loosening up again. It looks like my first deposit is April, which would mean the latest I would either be taking or leaving the money.

I gotcha. It seems like applicants with exemplary numbers for a certain school are given scholarship offers earlier, most likely to entice them to accept over another school.MumofCad wrote:I don't know what mine entails yet, but my status checker under "decision letter sent" has another line that says "scholarship letter sent." congrats to all who got in.
just wondering,
when u guys say a 'congratulations' signal appears, where exactly is it in the status checker site?
is it next to 'term' ?
also my app just went complete but i dont see any 'decision pending' status. Where does that pop up?

I think they fixed that glitch and now it just says something generic in that space, even for those already admitted. Let me check mine out....myungstunn wrote:congrats to all who got in.

Hmmm...now my box has entirely changed from the previous so I can't tell. I'm wondering if they all changed or just those who've already received a decision. Mine just says in the "Status" box: Full time, JD, 2012. My mailings are also hidden now, but I can still see the seat deposit information.
If I compare to Chicago, in my "Status" box, I have a Status: Application Complete below the basic info. That is now hidden in the UVA one, which is where we were seeing Status: Congratulations. If I had to wager a guess, I'd say that due to the glitch, they've selected to hide entirely that box on UVA's since they are already admitting people and want to give them a call prior rather than finding out via the status checker. Until they put it back up (if they do), I don't think you'll be able to tell what your status actually is from the status checker. Hopefully, LSAC gets it fixed where they can admit people and see it, while hiding it from the applicant. I'm guessing that's the hang-up right now.

I got the acceptance call 2 days ago, and my status checker still doesn't have "Congratulations" displayed.myungstunn wrote:congrats to all who got in.

Instead, there is no status, and like mumofCad, it says:
"Term:
Year: 2012
Program Time: Full Time
Degree: JD"

If you're accepted, they'll either call you outright, or send you an email asking you to call them.myungstunn wrote:so they dont even tell us if a decision has been made?
