Seems like everyone in this thread wrote an optional essay? Is it frowned upon by Penn if you don't write any of these?

Is there a way to check for a hidden fee waiver if your application's nowhere near complete?

Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Fill in b.s. for every field, then go to checkout (don't, you have to put in credit card details, you'll be fine) but it'll say "Fee Waived due to CRS Waiver" or something. Then you erase everything you put in and complete the app knowing you're $80 richer.countercouper wrote:Is there a way to check for a hidden fee waiver if your application's nowhere near complete?

Based on last cycle's experiences, pretty much every LSN/TLS-reporting non-URM/semi-URM who met/exceeded one median and one 25th %ile got accepted.boosk wrote:didn't do an optional essay either... does anyone have any info on what the ED boost is like for Penn?

First time poster here. FWIW my status changed from "complete" on 9/26 to "under comittee review" on 10/20. I applied ED, curious to see what type of action others have seen on the status checker...

URM splitter cycles are super impossible to predict.MiamiOxford wrote:Any ideas on a super longshot (161, 4.11, NA, applied ED)?? This just a pipe-dream? lol

Depending on the quality of your softs/diversity statement, I'd actually say you have a pretty good shot. RD URM applicants in your numbers range were pretty evenly split between admits and waitlists/rejections. A Hispanic "semi-URM" also got in ED with a 163/4.0.MiamiOxford wrote:Any ideas on a super longshot (161, 4.11, NA, applied ED)?? This just a pipe-dream? lol
You should hear back between the 1st/3rd week in December. Good luck!

Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Just got my LSAT score today (a 171), so I'm a bit late to start the whole process (well my letter's of rec and transcripts and everything are done, and my personal statement is like 75% done), but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna apply to Penn ED and hope for the best (3.53 GPA is killing me a bit). For the optional essay, do you guys think I should write about the 4th topic to explain my low GPA? I'm double majoring (accounting and history) and in my schools honors college so I'm not sure if it'd help, or if it would actually hurt me.

Really struggling whether to ED to Penn. I'm at the median for LSAT (170), but below the GPA median (3.66)-- thoughts?

Going to throw in a prayer ED with my 170/3.3 and hope for the best. Looking at LSN, it's been done before. We'll see.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
