I'm not a traditional URM - just from a different employment background.
edit: Oh, and he didn't specifically say anything about releasing decisions early. he did mention that my acceptance from my faculty reviewers "came in this morning."
Congrats!!! You only need one!

Okay, thanks, that's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything.

It is my understanding that many committee numbers don't even look at numbers when making their decisions. Y'all should be proud that you're getting in based on your accomplishments and your writing ability. See ya soon and congrats.

I've taken to playing fruit ninja endlessly so I can hold my phone obsessively but not look like I'm just staring at it like a crazy person.
ETA: I've broken my high score twice so thus far so even if I get dinged this hasn't been a total waste

This is why Berkeley students are so much more interesting than everywhere else.

Just got IN by email!!!!!!! I had a call earlier from an 800 number, but I was in a movie and didn't answer because I didn't think it would be Berkeley (it might not have been). Also didn't leave a voicemail.
Email was from after 2 central time.
So excited!!!!

Got the call from Dean Tom a few hours ago. 3.6, 170, strong softs, ORM, California resident. Barring an unlikely acceptance from Stanford, it looks like I'll be at Boalt this fall.

No love yet. I am not in full panic mode yet, but I do have to admit I just re-read my personal statement for glaring errors. Luckily, I did not refer to them as Stanford and Son as I had feared. I am feeling like if I don't hear by tomorrow, I will be waiting for the hammer to fall.
I feel like a submitted a strong personal statement and had a number of both advisors and adcomms say as much. Anyway, fingers are firmly crossed.

Nevermind, there's the WL email. I don't even get the satisfaction of reading their polite denial email.
