How much is your WF seat deposit? Would you be able to pay it and still hope to hear from BYU? Definitely don't do it until the last day possible should you hear in the next couple weeks!jdemmitt wrote:I have two weeks. Or maybe politely convey the urgency next week and (if they are your top choice) write it like a LOCI.

Re: BYU 2011
I actually just shot off a quick email to Gaelynn with some questions. I want to see if she says the same to me that she did to Adam. WF deposit is 300. I could drop the deposit to WF and then attend Byu, but obviously I don't want to lose 300 dollars.zonto wrote:Or maybe politely convey the urgency next week and (if they are your top choice) write it like a LOCI.
If I haven't got a decision by march 26, then I am off to the post office.

"The committee has reviewed your application but a final decision has not been made. Many times the committee holds on to applications, to compare with others that have applied, until they can make a final decision. We are trying to get all decisions out by April 15, if not before.
Thanks for your patience!"
Well that can't be good. Guess I am not as well liked as Adamofthewest.
Shoot.

Re: BYU 2011
Or they just want to mix it up since they probably know that people come on the forum and post the replies they get- and then it doesn't come across as if they just send a form letter to everyone that asks? Probably one thing that makes it harder for them than some other schools (with the exception of some of the super high ranked ones) is that the attrition rate is really high here- so until they ask for seat deposits, they really may not know how many spots they have to fill-making it take longer. I'm not sure what your WF scholarship is, but considering you'd qualify for the LDS rate (not sure if your numbers get you a scholarship on top of that or not) then I would imagine the $300 hit would be more than worth it in the long run. I've already decided that if I end up here, one day I'm going to do some type of a non-LDS law student scholarship, even if its just a couple thousand dollars, just to help take the edge off. I've been searching EVERYWHERE to find something and its amazing how they just don't seem to like giving money to produce more lawyers!

Ultimately it would be cheaper to attend byu, and I want too and would be willing to drop 300 to do it, but of course I would prefer not to.bsm909 wrote:Or they just want to mix it up since they probably know that people come on the forum and post the replies they get- and then it doesn't come across as if they just send a form letter to everyone that asks? Oh totally. That wouldn't be fun at all. Especially before you have to go into school and add more debt! Can you pay your WF seat deposit online or something so you can buy yourself a couple days?

Sorry to change the subject, but does anyone else find it incredibly lame that U of U and BYU are having their student open house on the same day? Really debating between the two and this is frustrating, just makes me bitter towards them both.

I agree. It would have been smart if they did one in the morning and one in the afternoon for anyone that may be coming into town and for those who are local and have been accepted to both!

They probably called each other and planned it like this. Malicious.

Since I haven't heard back from the U, how late does theirs go? BYU's gets done around 1pm (1.5 hours later if you do the optional class).

Yes. There's more food at U of U, they're serving breakfast. And they have a vegetarian meal option. Might be the kicker.jdemmitt wrote:All day. Literally from 830 to 400.

Did anyone else go "decision made" on March 14th? Have you received your notification letter as of yet via snail mail?

Was looking something up on the BYU calendar and saw that the Admissions Committee seems to meet every Tuesday. Maybe they just block it out and only use as necessary, but I did hear on a Tuesday...so maybe there will be some movement around then for some of you! Here's hoping for a week of good news!
