I actually applied to STCL, too. However, I have not heard anything back. Maybe it's because I applied in mid February?

Anyways, Loyola is more expensive tuition wise, but they tend to give more aid. Yet, STCL offers school-supported repayment to help manage debt. Students tend to come out of STCL with about 90,000 in law school related debt, while Loyola students tend to come out with around 50,000.

Also, what type of programs or areas of law interest you? Loyola has strong a moot court program, which is ranked nationally and well known internationally. If you have interest in international law, go to Loyola.

What region of the country do you want to work in? It may be challenging to land a job outside of New Orleans if you attend Loyola. If you attend STCL, you may have a decent shot at getting jobs across Texas.

Ultimately, these are just a few ideas I thought I would share.

Best of luck.

You're asking this question in the Loyola forum. Guess what kind of response you're likely going to get.

Bumbum in the exact same boat as you. I got accepted into both but I'm from Texas and would prefer to come back to Tx after school. I wasn't able to make it to the Open House on Friday, can anyone tell me how it went?

I'm hoping someone on here can tell me about ASD that took place this past weekend. I wasn't able to go because of car trouble at the last minute and was really looking forward to it. :(

I haven't heard back yet either. Not sure if this is good/bad/neither. I applied 3/1. When did you send in your application?

Was that email a response to an email that you sent them or did they just send you an update? I haven't heard anything or seen any changes on status checker since 3/10, so just curious.

I emailed them for an update, and that was her response. Nothing at all has changed on my status checker.

Status checker just changed to initial review... anyone who has had this status, do you recall how long it took for a final decision?

For me, it was about 1 week, give or take a few days. From the mailings, I can tell you I got my status checker password on 01/25/2011 and the decision was made on 02/02/2011.

Admitted this week via status checker. Hoping for a decent scholarship from here as I've gotten money from similarly ranked schools and admitted to better ones. I'd be stoked to live in New Orleans

I got into the Summer Conditional Program. Yet, even if I were to pass, I still have reservations on attending because I would probably have to pay sticker price.

I would love to live in NOLA, too. I want to be apart of a growing community, so that makes NOLA really attractive. Plus, it's diverse and appears to be pretty proactive.

Anyways, good luck on your decision and hopefully you get some $.

Does loyola send out scholarships separately from admissions packets? By the way, I think their package is kind of iackluster.

Upon browsing the thread it seems that they notify you that you have a scholarship on the checker. So if I didn't get that on my checker does that definitely mean no money?

yes, if it doesn't say so online, you're not getting any money.

Crap. I would've chosen Loyola if they'd given me even close to what I've been offered elsewhere. Oh well.

I called them yesterday. They said there were people who were qualified that weren't getting $$$. They had an unusually competitive cycle this year - people with 4.0 GPAs and LSATs in the high 160s and 170s.

I emailed last night trying to get something out of them. I've been offered 10-15,000 per year from comparable schools and less at better ones. I'm still thinking about going anyway, because if it comes down to where I want to live and work after graduation, New Orleans sounds better than Milwaukee or Indianapolis.

I'm a little confused by this. According to LSN the numbers aren't near that. My LSAT is 162 and is one of the highest listed. GPA's arent at 4.0 either, granted thats not everyone, but it could be a decent sample.... Loyola isn't the kind of school that attracts those numbers either... kinda wierd.

Same with me. I'm well above their 75% LSAT, though my GPA is low, just about 25%. I doubt anyone with those numbers would go to Loyola without a full ride. In other news, I haven't received a reply of any kind from aid/admissions yet. Any idea how long I should expect to wait?

I am kind of in the same boat, high LSAT, low GPA... I just heard back that I was waitlisted last week.... no other real correspondance. So if any of you guys who are accepted, but dont really want to go could withdraw... I would probably love you lol
