Has anyone else who got in last Monday still not received the admissions folder? I'm in NY, so even the pony express should have made it down here by now, though my mailperson is notoriously bad.

Any insights as to how your interviews went? I've got one coming up this week and would just like to know if you guys thought yours went well, and if not, why? Did you get any hint that you were getting in based on how it went or on anything JR said?

Is NY your permanent address? Mine got sent to my permanent address, not to my current address. But it also only got there yesterday.

I'm pretty sure I managed to sound like I was name-dropping, indicate that I have no idea what I want to do in my life, and ask questions which I already knew the answers to, all in the same interview.

But I was really enthusiastic about it!

Just be well-spoken, don't say anything too stupid and seem enthusiastic. It is my (purely speculative) contention that the JR1 was just a way of making sure you don't talk like, you know, like, I mean, like, you know?

I actually said "like" and "you know" more than a couple of times during my JR1.

I wouldn't worry too much about verbal tics during the interview. I'm sure he has seen his share of nervous applicants (a bunch of 21-22 year olds interviewing at HLS?) Just have real answers to his questions and I think the interview will be fine. I actually think the interview is more of a recruiting device than a screening one (though I'm sure the really horrible interviews can sink a candidate--e.g. Why law? I don't know. Or the guy who put JR on hold to feed his dog.)

My interview lasted just under five minutes, which was surprisingly short considering my long review time before getting a JR1. I had imagined they might ask a few more probing questions for borderline cases.

Also, I didn't have any questions related specifically to my application, just the why law and why Harvard--is this common?

For people who have had JR1's, how long was the review time before you found out that you had an interview? I've been under review for almost a month.

I had the same- Just 2 Qs Why Law school? Why Harvard? and then time for me to ask some Qs. I had answers ready, and I tend to talk alot so that might be why mine took about 10 min, (5min of me talking and about 5min of him answering 2 qs of mine).

As it has been said before, JR is incredibly relaxed about it, and extremely helpful. Best of luck on getting that JR2! I think we can all tell you from experience that those nervous umms or rather AHHHHHs come out more during the JR2

I don't think the idea is a kind of "gotcha!" the first time you interject a placeholder. I just meant I think if you can't really put complete sentences together that might be a hindrance, otherwise it isn't a big deal.

I was so frazzled, I can barely remember the interview. I'm guessing it doesn't matter too much. I think they've already made up their mind about you...especially if JR doesn't even bother to ask you something specific about your app

Hey mates, had my JR1 today.

It was much less intense than I had expected. I guess I've grown accustomed to interviews being performed by someone hammering at me for information about my beliefs and thought processes. He just asked me "why law, why Harvard," and then asked if I had any questions. The one thing that did throw me for a loop was when I picked up the phone I accidently answered "alo buenas" and then very stupidly answered "I...it is me." when he asked to speak with "my name". But it got easier as the thing progressed, so here's hoping Anyone know when the office closes for the holidays so we know when we can expect JR2s?

Does anyone have advice as to when and from which schools to withdraw? I blanketed Yale to Duke and am thinking I should probably pull my name out of some. I definitely want to stay in at CCN, but are there any benefits to staying in at BMVPD?

I think that really comes down to personal preference. I withdrew from everywhere except for CCN. You just need to ask yourself if you would realistically go to those other schools over HLS. If you wouldn't go to one of those schools, even with up to a full-tuition scholarship, then I would withdraw the application. As to the question of when, I would do it as soon as you have decided that you wouldn't go to that school, since it could potentially free up a spot for someone else.

Thanks! I think that sounds like a good plan. I'll probably hold out for Darrow for Michigan, but there's no way I'm going to UVa or Duke. I guess I just still have this paranoia that HLS is going to call and say they made a mistake, so I'm scared to cut off any options. I don't want to keep a spot from someone else though.

Haha, I know the feeling. But after receiving the admissions "binder" and signing up for my e-mail and all of that, I figured that they couldn't turn back and revoke my acceptance at that point. Or could they?

But seriously, as long as you have received those confirmations, you should be good to go to withdraw from other places. If it makes you more comfortable, though, you could always wait until you get another acceptance before withdrawing from anywhere. Highly unlikely that you would get two accidental acceptances.
