i was annoyed that it wasn't what i expected and instead something that was quite irrelevant to my current interests. I understand that there's different departments doing different things, but honestly, why would they think anybody would give two shits about the new chancellor when they don't even know if they've gotten in yetLegallyPumpkin wrote:Why did you have to delete it immediately??lsatextreme wrote:

The easy and obvious answer is that if there is a chance that it might influence your decision to refrain from accepting admission somewhere else until you do receive your admissions decision from Pepperdine, then its worth sending. People are influenced by many things, including the dean of the law school, as evidenced by the strongly held opinions regarding the former dean.

Wow man congrats on the $$$$$. That kind of ticks me off a little though. My GPA is slightly lower, but my LSAT is 169, and I only got 25k a year. Come on Pepperdine.

Hmm...that's interesting. I'm not sure if some of my softs helped...but I also wrote a pretty intense response to the mission statement, and I applied for the Faculty Scholarship (which I'm now assuming I didn't get). Maybe those factors helped? I was certainly (and pleasantly) surprised with the amount myself.PinkCow wrote:Chris Ross wrote:I was out of town when my letter arrived...so I had my roommate read it to me. In w/ $42,000 a year. Hah. Not to the Church of Christ, no. But I am fairly active religiously, and that came across in my resume.pimpsdontcry wrote:lol. got 42k per year too.Danteshek wrote:Do you belong to the church?Chris Ross wrote:I was out of town when my letter arrived...so I had my roommate read it to me. If they really like you but your numbers aren't quite at the faculty scholars level they will give you $42k aka full tuition. FWIW I think you usually get this bump if you aced the mission statement and have strong numbers. Keep in mind if tuition increases your scholly won't increase. My 38k scholly is a couple grand short now after a year of tuition increase

DR today. Does anybody know if Pepperdine sends an email if you are admitted or do they send all decisions via snail mail?

Re: Pepperdine 2011
It seems if they send you a wave net account within a day or two, you are admitted. And on the wavenet account, it generally says admitted before you receive your packet in the mail.ddawg819 wrote:DR today. I was DR on a Monday and received the wavenet and packet on Friday. The packet had to cross to the other coast, but I would have hoped the email could have come more quickly.

Re: Pepperdine 2011
I appreciate the positivity. The hard fact for me though is that I can't afford not to know where I'm going until August. I am going to take an offer from a school before that, even if it's not as posh or well situated. Also, I have a deferral in-hand to a better ranked public school from last year's cycle, albeit not in SoCal. Waitlist hassle + almost no hope of scholly + third factor to be named at a later date = probably not Pepperdine Time.arhmcpo wrote:One the seat deposit deadlines begin to pass, spots open up, and they will pull from the waitlist up until the first day of class. You can send in a letter of continued interest down the road if you want. I have two buddies who were both let in the week before school started; one had already been going to Loyola law classes for a week before he got his notice.Midnight Rider wrote:LSAT (slightly) > 75%, GPA < 25%
My surprise is based mostly on admits w/$$ in last year's cycle at schools with similar rank/stats. Life dictated that I not take those options and this year I tried to look for similar targets in more feasible locations. I guess expectations were the problem here...that and my idiocy as a teenager when it came to undergrad. Not sure if I'll take the waitlist. Any thoughts on how long before they start pulling folks off of the list?
My tan is already fading in protest.
